can't fukken believe it: clutch NOT toasted!
I pulled my clutch last night after 29 passes, about 10 of which were 9.2's & 9.1's. I fully expected to change out fibers and steels, BUT... all the steels are fine, only a couple with mild discoloration, and the fibers are only a thou or 2 less than new(0.128"). Go figure. It seems that quick (for me)60's and clutch life go hand & hand for the 1361???

Sounds like your long arm is letting you get all the way out on the clutch much quicker. Low gearing helps too. What gearing you running and what rpm do you cross at in what gear, Karl?

Ken,
I am running 17/51 and run into the limiter at 154.6. On a no wind day I don't hit the limiter, but last weekend with 10-15mph at my back I was going into the limiter about 50' more or less before the finish line. With your weight I bet 17/50 would be good IF you want to do the 5 gear 1/4.

Wow that just goes to show how much gear you have on it if your tapped out in 5th at 154. At Maxton I was getting 177 in 5th in the MILE.

As usual, i spoke too soon. Had a beautiful day at Houston Raceway today, but clutch went "soft" after 4 passes. I got a 1.520 60', then things got progressively worse, ending up in 1.6's no matter how hard i dumped it. could also be my mcr2 which is getting old; i'll see if doug can help me out.

I KNOW I can get...long winded but...WHERE WERE YOU guys (MIKE?) when I said that ONE of the things I EXPECTED with the 17/51 GEARING I was putting on John's bike was..."extended clutch life"...
Mike...YOU would have been...much better off with 17/51 gearing (with your stock motor for sure)...
John just started riding HIS bike (3 outings so far) and at HIS weight (225-PLUS) he has run a couple of high 9.50s already without "trying to launch hard"...
On an average "drive it off the staring line" he runs 9.70s with only high 1.60s 60FTs...EASILY...
The bike recovers quickly from slow take-offs with this low of gearing...AND it's easier on the clutch...
You NEED to have the axle back pretty far for best results though or it's...WHEELIE FUN
