1/8 mile stock 12

In San Diego, they have this legal street racing thing going on sponsored by the cops. 1/8 of a mile.
What do you think a stock 12 will run that in?
250lb person on board.

My numbers are for a stock bike (not lowered or strapped) with a 250lb rider on the STREET...

My first time to the TRACK on a TOTALY stock, not lowered 12, I ran 6.78 @ 112.86...that's at 165lbs...

With Ti-pipe, bike lowered (not strapped) and 17-tooth front, 6.60s @ 114mph...

After 15 runs of practice, timing advance and motor breaking in more...6.47 @ 117mph...still at 165lb...

It'll be my first time running any kind of track race.
I figure I do it from green lights all the time...what could be the dif, huh?

So, give me some pointers on how you start and when you shift.

Do it the same as you do it from a lite...
Lean as far forward as possible...shift into 2nd when the wheel starts coming up in 1st...if your lucky???and it doesn't come up in 1st???(doubtful)...then shift at AT LEAST 11,500 on your tach...the tachs read high...

If you have stock gearing...2nd will get you to the 1/8...
One tooth down on the front will get you there in 3rd...

Good luck and HAVE FUN...

Rev it to between 3 and 4-thousand to start out...be as smooth as you can SLIPPING the clutch out...trying to keep the revs steady with clutch/throttle as you "drive off"...

Once you feel comfy doing this...raise the "launch" rpm a little at a time until you reach the point where you wheelie OR spin the tire (if traction sucks)...then???
BACK OFF A LITTLE...
