Modifiying oil pan

Seems I've gone about as low as I can...

So any tips or suggestions, advice/warnings on removing the little tits on the bottom of the pan and relocating the drain plug just a get me a little bit more clearance ?

The spectators love the spark show, but I'm gettin kinda worried.

I thought Mike made a post or mention of doing this mod, but the search function on this site is dreadful.

Any help, greatly appreciated, as always

Your alternative is a Coby Adams pan, at $275 it's not cheap, and you can't run a typical header it will only accept a sidewinder header.

More than likely take care of any welding locally (so yeah, lol).

Lemme re-phrase the original question...

Is there any reason I can't just fire up the air compressor and die grinder to cut off the little tabs ?

Is there anything else I need to be concerned with before welding up the old drain hole and tapping a new one ?

Thanks

I can do it for you...
I'll ask our fab/welder how much he will charge to make and weld the new bottom on...I can machine the pan down for him
I'll ask ryan if we can use his ZX12 pan...so your bike won't be down while modding...

The pan isn't thick enough to just drill and re-tap on the side...there's a good chance you'll strip the threads on an oil change IMO...
But it probly WOULD work while we are doing the other pan for you...

Crap...I just remembered...the oil-level-site-glasses are diff. from early to late model cases...HMMmmm...too tired to remember if the hole (for site glass) is diff. in the pans or not???
Ryan will have the site glass also though...
CALL ME at work...if interested...
