what method of retarding timing are you guys using....
during nitrous activation? I am aware of the Schnitz EFIR box, but am wondering if I really need it. I can take timing out on the PCIIIR at WOT in the RPM range in which the Juice is flowing, but is there a reason to not do that and step up to the EFIR?? If it's neccesary, I will pony up the cash, but if I can retard the timing safely with what I already have, that money could be better spent....

If you dont use the EFIR....you will be retarding your timing all the time...instead of just when you are spraying.

I wouldnt rely on the PC to add or remove timing.

YCIS: I do know about the retarded timing being constant, and have no problem with loading maps as neccesary......but if, as turboblew is saying, the PC is not reliable for timing, then I'd better pay the cash and buy an EFIR.

My experience is that a mechanical advancer is more responsive than the pc3. The PC does change the timing.... but there is a slight delay in the signal, which is why I wouldnt rely on it soley....especially spraying.
With a mechanical advancer... you stil get the low rpm hit..... and when you spray.. you can retard with the EFIR to compensate. Push comes to shove.... $280 aint much for the EFIR.

pc3r
After a full season of racing on the spray and over 300hp with my 12 I have had no probs at all pulling out timing with the pc3r. I dont race the bike unless its on spray and will be tearing the engine down for inspection in the next few days just to make sure things are fine for the start of the season.

We haven't used nitrous yet, but will be this year. We will be spraying progressively from about 2 seconds out. Those 2 seconds won't all be at 100% throttle anyway so I don't see a problem in using the PC3R to provide retard at 100% throttle only.
