MCR2: 2 tips from an expert (not me)
Yesterday at the track, Mancuso was doing T&T on his 2 600hp "Harleys" and they were testing new MT slicks; BIG fukken slicks. Anyway, the MT guy was there, clipboard in hand, working with Mancuso, and I got to get some MCR2 advice straight from "the man" (never got his name).
1. do not do excessive burnouts with mCR2, it just overheats em and makes em greasy on the line. Besides, no sense wasting the rubber, eh?
2. run 25-30psi, maybe go as low as 20 in extreme conditions, but certainly no lower. He said the tire will NOT hook up any better lower than 20, and will just kill mph.
Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, but this guy does this as his job for M/T, going from one track to another, so his "opinion" carries weight.
Hats off to the MT guy, sorry I didn't get his name.

Man this is an old thread, but I do have an update.
The minimal heating up of the MCR2 which works perfectly for me at Houston Raceway, did NOT work at Red River Raceway in LA. I did the "clean off the tire, just a little smoke" burnouts that i always used at HRP and i spun off the line time after time; couldn't get it to bite.
Soooooo, thx to some good advice from MadMike, Krexx, and kawachan, I tried a full 10 count smoky burnout and lo & behold, traction problem over. Go figure.
Nothing is simple in this drag-thang.

Yeah, Karl!! You still had water on your tire when you were staging!! Sometimes you just have to heat it up a lil to make it stick. Never a problem for me there even on an 010 after a good smokey one.

Anyone tried the Shinko? I saw Ryan Schnitz using one on the silver 12R he rode at the last shootout. In the 8s on the Shinko @ 60" wheelbase so they must work!
