I hope that we can get a FRIDAY just before some kind of event!!!
One bad thing about MIR is that the hotels are not very close...
Once the track, date and $$$ is established, we should pick a central hotel for everyon to stay at....Alot more fun when everyone is close!!!!

Entropy,
We live right outside of Knoxville, TN.
Angi,
You shoudn't worry about the lightweight title, since Chad's not racing he has fattened up to like 125 pounds during the holidays! :-)
He weighs exactly what I used to......when I was nine years old.

Having organized many private club events in the past I can tell you that realistically the maximum number of classes to run is 6.
Keep it simple and everyone will have more fun.
Personally I suggest a maximum of 4 racing classes but since we will have a small group (opposed to the 140-200 participants I've organized before) 6 may be do-able.
Rules should be simple and not involve weight, it will be too difficult to regulate. Wheelbase length and of course all-motor vs power adders are good choices for breaking up the classes, and bracket racing vs. heads-up too.
MIR has a new class called INSTANT GREEN which can be utilized in either heads up or bracket, preferrably heads-up. During INSTANT GREEN there are no yellow bulbs, and the tree is activated on a random basis, sometimes just 1 second after staging, sometimes several seconds, but it goes straight from stage to GREEN for a TRUE reaction time, no anticipation associated with dropping yellows on the tree.
I suggest the following 5 classes:
ET Bracket
Quick-8 N/A with 3 qualifying sessions, Heads-up Pro Tree
Quick-8 Power-Adder with 3 qual sess, heads-up Pro Tree
Instant Green N/A Heads-Up
Instant Green Power Adder Heads-Up
60" Wheelbase (Heads-Up, Pro Tree)
MIR is my home track now, but Commerce is my new home track for my house in GA. I'm open to either, those are my preferences, but I am willing to travel anyway east of the Mississippi to race.
Having organized dozens of private rentals and club events at MIR, I would suggest MIR. Jason and Royce Miller are very accommodating, and I am VERY familiar with the operations at this facility.

Also note that during at all times there will be two lanes open to grudge matches. MIR has a total of 8 lanes available for staging, and classes are organized by lane. Normally we always set aside an open lane for time trials, and another pair of lanes for grudges so you always run your buddy. The remaining lanes are designated per race class entry.

Here is a sample of INSTANT GREEN tree, super fun! This sample show how quick the starter can throw the green, but sometimes he will hold it like 10 seconds, so you never know when it's going green. Way more fun that pro tree or standard tree! Everyone check out this video.

Yes, Dan! you did not need to do that... Thank you.
On the classes, I am going to vote for ET and then just Heads up. everything else is a grudge item... but then again we can finalize them when it gets closer. I agree with bergie, to many classes will be distracting. but then again if we only have 20 people there, we can have a ton of different stuff. which will be basiclly grudge racing,
Thanks.

there'a alot of ways to do this, but with such a small group, basically I agree with YCIS.
Depending upon who shows up I see 3 classes:
1. heads up - folks who are running hi 8's
2. heads up - folks who are running lo 9's
3. ET, come one come all.
Grudge races are a given, eh?
However, I figure we should should meet for beers the night before the races (hell, meet for beers at breakfast the day of the races!), and see who showed up and who wants to race what.
I do instant green on Sundays at HRP, but prefer bulbs. No matter, its all good.
You all have seen how 4 yr olds play games, they make up the rules as they go along; I have an affinity with that method.

MmmmK no problem then I'll sit this one out from an organizing standpoint then.
Just tell me when and where to show up and I will be there and I'll run whatever whenever against whoever. And I'll bring a can opener.

YOUR HIGHNESS ANGIE,
YOU ARE THE QUEEN; abdication of the throne would bring down life as we know it, so don't go there if you have compassion for your subjects!
(of course, if the Queen can take shorthand and fetch coffee, all the better )
