matt; I find it interesting that you find some of this "Funny" (lol).

Mike; for that kind of $, why not (at $220 a gear, less in sets) just get the Billet? The Billet gears are also undercut BTW.

canada; Yes, 5th and 6th gear are undercut from Big K. They are on the Input Shaft.
3rd gear on the Output Shaft is what has failed.
Billy offers Billet 1st, 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears on the Output Shaft for the 12.

thats a good reason your trans is holding MM, some trans guys cut different degrees of backcut. the 12 trans doesnt need much at all as we know it was slightly cut from the factory. fbg knows that and adjust accordingly. some of the old fashioned cuts are deep and does cause weakening based on the desighn. no one can argue that billet gears will be stronger. from what i saw they are solid without the spokes. the 1 st gear ratio change is a given for me i thinking on the rest. this topic is smoking like a thankgiving turkey.

Good contribution!

It does appear that the only undercut gears from the factory are 5th and 6th on the Input Shaft.

If you only change first gear, will the gear ratio jump between first and second be too severe? and Kill momentum by reducing RPM's too much?

i wouldnt think so. the diff. is from a 2.42 oem ratio to a 2.50 . i dont see that lugging 2nd . your sprocket gear is the dominance.
