big thanks to JohnnyCheese!

For taking so much time yesterday doing pre-build spec checks:

crank and rod bearing plastiguage - check

squish height: .043-.044" - check

cc 2 combustion chambers: 25.6cc, CR = 15.4:1!!! - check

clay in valve pockets: .085"+/- valve to piston clearance - check

As usual I did forget something when I left to return to Space City: the progress payment check.

Too bad I'll be on airplanes for the next 2 weeks and won't get to watch JC bolt it up

You da MAN, JC!!!

(any guesses on cold cranking pressure???)

Also: thanks to:
Buddy for lending me his MTC multistage hat,
George for Popeye's chicken,
Gary for drinks.

BTW: a cool race would be George on his short sprayed Busa vs me on the long all motor 12. whatta ya say George, race for a bud lite????

15.4:1 compression!!! GAWD!!!

My guess on cold cranking psi... 295-300 psi. Am I even close??

That thing is going to be a beast Entropy.

it would be cool to gather real info from folks who actually have measure their CR & CC pressure; graph it so we can know CR from psi. it out to be pretty linear?

Hey, YOU are a Mech Engineer, eh??? is it somewhat linear?

anyway 14.4:1 was 255-260psi, i guess 15:4 ought to be 265-270??? dunno???

you tell me

The first problem is that compression gauges are not precision devices.

A way to test your compression gauge is to measure the same cylinder several times over a period of time and see if the measurements change.

Second, a cold engine, driven by a starter motor isn't a great approximation of a running engine.

Cams can also effect the numbers along with engine cranking speed.

If I get some time later maybe I'll see if I can plug some numbers in and give you a more definite answer on if the scale is linear or not...

boss, let's add you, buddy, shane, JC, et al into the mix and we'll have our own heads up class get a bunch of bikes which all run about 8.8-8.9's and have fun. winner gets bragging rights but has to buy dinner.

Now that is a Great idea!!! a 8.90 "Super Steet Comp" class!!! that would be cool! Street Bikes, running heads up with an 8.90~8.80 breakout...

or... no breakout time at all

if someone if "obviously" too quick, too skilled, etc, they'll get tired of buying us porkers dinner time after time, and then they'll graciously retire!

the more i think about it, the better i like the "hi-8's misfit class"

are you at 60" and not running 8.20's or better?

you got a (any length) mojo turbo and can't break 8.70's?

you got an all motor monster but there's no class for you?

the lame, the halt, the blind, the fat, the skinny, the young, the old, even girls!; spray, turbo, motor, all lengths, all fuels, bars, sliders; who cares; just be running in upper 8's or so...

come one, come all, lets have our own "Misfits" heads up "class". Whenever at least 2 misfits are at the track, we'll race for food!

Is Johnny running the cooler plugs in your engine also??
What is the benefit??

I'm at 14-1 CR myself and would like to know if I could benefit.

I understand the "Less Heat" aspect.......Thx.

I was wondering if I would benefit from a cooler plug w/ my 14-1 1270 kit.
