LM-1 question, which wire for RPM Pickup
Got a LM-1 from Spencercycle, hooking it up to my 2000 ZX12. RPM's are not reading correctly. I hooked into the black/orange wire at the CPU, is this correct? When I hold the RPM's @ 3k on tach, logworks only shows like 1800 RPM and it's jumping around. It seemed(blk/orgn wire) to program the rpm converter OK, seems to read right at idle. Maybe the black/orange wire is not the right one? Entropy or Ninja12, help please. Got the TPS to read perfectly.

There is a 2x switch in the software.
Have not played with it in a while but i remember that.

the tach signal usually used is the light blue wire on the back of the instrument cluster

addison,
i did figure out the rpm and it reads correctly:
RPM signal = ECU pin #10, stk coil #4, black w/orange tracer (any of the coil wires will do it)
regrounded RPM module to br/bk wire ECU (pin #60), RPM now has very clean (do not use frame ground)
to get the rpm to read right (not 1/2 of actual), you need to follow the directions but i don't have the manual to tell you exactly which part; i'll get back to you.

Guys, Thanks a lot. Entropy, I know how to double thr RPM reading, thanks. I was mainly concerned that I hooked into the right wire! It looks like i have the right wire. I will recheck, I might have a faulty rpm converter. I will talk to Doug to get it swamped out. Entropy you used the auto set-up feature at 4k, correct?

Received the new RPM converter quickly, thanks Doug. Apparently that is not the problem. We suspect that my ignition ground might be bad causing interference with the RPM converter. Does anyone know exactly WHERE the ignition ground is on the 12? Tried tracing the harness backward, but the engine obstructs my view. Do I have to drop the engine to get to the ignition ground?

Entropy, thanks but the problem apparently is my ignition system does not have a real good ground & is bleeding current . The rpm ground s/b OK because I grounded per your advice. When I plug the 12v power supply into the LM-1 the RPM led light goes out! But, the led stays on when LM-1 is running off the 9v battery. The tech at innovate suggested hooking the 12v power supply ground to the same place the ignition ground is. But where is that on our 12's? Btw, where did you hook up your LM-1 power supply wires? Thanks.
