LM-1 data logger track results: I'm a liar!
made 6 passes last nite at the Texas Shootout, and it turns out I'm a liar!
I've been saying I launch by snapping out the clutch and going WOT; turns out I was 1/2 right...
The damn logs show that again and again, I go to about 60% WOT outa the hole and only get to WOT 1/2 way thru 1st.
I paid $450 for a goddamn lil box which PROVES that I'm a liar!
The upside is:
1. I now know what I gotta do to get back into 1.4's, the faster I get to WOT the quicker my 60's,
2. thanks to Lee (Bittersweet builder/tuner) looking at the logs, it seems I have too much weight on the arms of my MTC 2 step, and the cluch is locking up a bit too early.
3. Thanks to JohnnyCheese looking at the logs and comparing to my time slips, then changing the PC3 settings, I gained 1.5mph in the 1/8th and know that my bike "likes" 12.45 AF more than 12.2 and way more than 13.3. 1/4 m mph wasn't useful cause i was racing SET.
I know everyone has gotta be sick of my rambling LM-1 posts and shameless praise of Doug/Spencer Cycles; but Doug said he might just send me a FREE Spencer Cycle sticker if I keep plugging the LM-1

I wish I knew how to post one of the graphs from last Sat race; a pic would REALLY show folks what this thing tells you.
I had NO FUKKEN IDEA I was being such a wimp with my throttle hand when coming outa the hole.

See how many are interested an lets go from there first. would need at least 10 to start. It would not be much of a break...not a huge profit margin on this item.
You would be better off just purchasing one..so you could go ahead and use it. GB's take too long to get together much less work out in a timely matter

Tell the man you want one.

3.?
Download a base map and custom tune it to your bike with your fuel.
Try different fuels, pipes, or filters. tune your NOS without going to the DYNO. This is the REAL WORLD DYNO/tuning kit for home use.
Doug or entropy correct me if im wrong!

That is correct. This unit is the best price bang for the buck.
If you used the RPM converter you can custom map your own bike.
If you race it is a must. I know for afact at the last race I told many of people about this unit.

I saw the AFR over RPM chart and i knew it was a MUST have.
I'm thinking that once mapped you could make one pass and
then optimize your map for the current weather conditions.
Doug, I agree with you on the GB, how about a Board Discount
say for the next 2 weeks.
Might be a great Advertisement tool for you as well.

Even with this great tool, I'd still go to the Cheeseman for a full map.
At low throttle openings, 2-5-10%, I'd guess there is no sub for a load control dyno with Cheese in the saddle (if you want driveability). I betcha 95%+ of street riding is at less than 5-10%????
But for tuning the map at the track, this thing is hard to beat!

If you have a Cheeseman in your town, why not.
Some of us have to take a road trip to find the right
man with the right dyno.
Why do you think this would not work at low RPM's and low throttle %?

it would work, but i don't think it would be easy to hold say 5% throttle at a certain rpm to get a good AF reading; seems like you'd just zip thru it.
i just don't know ...
Cheeseman is a solid 3+ hr drive from my house; but for a good base map, i would drive much further. I'm lucky he's only 200 mi away, eh?

Thanks Karl. but I am sold on that logger.
Yes it would be easier on a dyno but you could do it with that unit.
Doug even if we don't get enough for a price break. I will be calling.
What size is the bung? I think it is the same as the O2 on the dynojet.

Doug, i am interested in the lm-1 also. but i have a qwestion. i have a non heated 2 wire o2 sensor in my pipe just behind the foot peg area. i have a dyna-tune nitrouse cut off system in place. i have a meter that reads in millivolts that you convert to a/f ratio the only problem is that the meter doesnt get rich enough when staging for the race. with it armed i launch if meter doesnt go high enough fast enough the the system shuts thenit. off until it resets. will the lm-1 read acurate with this o2 sensor in that location properly enough to make mapping adjustments without being wide open down the track?

its not just the sensor...its the controller as well.
A wideband setup is significantly more expensive than a narrowband setup. You cant just plug in a wideband sensor to a power source and gauge...it doesnt quite work that way

Cheese,
Same as the dynojet....and all cars.
Lonnie mac,
Yes you could place this in that same location and it I think it would read fine. If it doesnt...you would need to just move closer to the front....but it should pick up and read fine as long as you are not 1 inch form the end of the pipe.
The sensor and controller you now have is very outdated! The LM-1 has an accuracy of +\- .1 afr. The response time @11.7-1 afr is 120ms. The LM-1 samples 12 times per second.
SO what I am trying to say is it would read very quickly when you start up ...stage up...what ever.
put simply...buy one and you will never look back.

Doug, do you know if the lm-1 will use the millivolts from the sensor. to work from so i could still parallel wire into the system so that i can still use the nitrous cutoff . and if u are going to memphis bring one with you. thanks man.
