stage - chest ON the tank

about 10' out - WOT, clutch fully engaged
Look how impressed the track guys are with my style!!!!

about 30'out - WOT, clutch fully engaged

it was coming up on me more than i'd like, so i lowered it a bit more; we'll see what happens tomorrow at the Texas Shootout.

60 ft's using stock wheelbase shoot for a goal of 1.63

Come to MIR for one of Jason Miller's streetbike seminar schools, I will show up and beat up on you with some one-on-one until you go 9.70s.

thx, Dean.
Q: any idea where i can get zx12 clutch springs which are midway between Muzzy and stock???

On my MTC 2 stage I am running 3 stockers and 3 Muzzy, because 6 stockers (or they might be MTC's???) were too soft even when shimmed.

I now have a clutch spring tester and wanna go step-wise softer from where I am now (3+3) until my rpm stays up and 60' stays down.

thoughts??

(Aliveagain: i hope this sidebar on clutch springs doesn't constitute thread-jacking. Its all about launching, eh??)

Not sure. I would think Tony Lang would be able to point you in the right direction, or maybe Jay Regan at MRE.

sidebar #2; just got my crank back from Falicon, looks schweet. Hopefully boosting by next weekend.

Aliveagain: any chance of checking Muzzy's stock before waiting any longer on Mike?

Entropy...What you need is the OEM 92144-1881 clutch springs from the 2002 ZX12...The spring is a touch thicker than the OEM 2000 ZX12 springs...I use the 1881 springs and have great results with minimal wheelies!!!

Aliveagain...The ZX6 springs are good, but cause wheelies when you launch hard!!!...The OEM springs that I mentioned above are perfect!!!

From my understanding...the ZX springs are no stiffer...they are just LONGER than the OEMs...and thusly creating more pressure on the plate.

The Schnitz/muzzy springs are actually stiffer than the stockers or 6R springs....how much stiffer...dunno...never measured.

Ive been running the 6R springs since I got the bike...it would never handle the spray for very long..and I was changing steels like underwear.

Had planned on switchin to some schnitz springs...but never got around to it.

Anyway...moving to an MTC lockup instead of fiddlin with THOSE kinda springs anymore.

"60 ft's using stock wheelbase shoot for a goal of 1.63"

I assume that is lowered?

I have done 1.74 so far at stock height except for a strap. Got a dogbone on order. I am hoping that is enough for 1.6's. Thanks for the info.

That's a great thing about lockups, once you get it set up you shouldn't burn through plates. I change steels every now and then, adding up to a full set about once a year.

Nothing new Karl, just recovering from a burned rod bearing, which turned into an overhaul and freshening. Cryo'd the crank, rods & pistons, maybe that will help longevity. Balanced to within a few tenths of a gram too.

Falicon, but they farm it out to someone close by. $150 for crank, rods, pistons, wrist pins.
