1290 hard to start
i have a 1290 an it is hard to start when it run for about 15 min. what can i do i heard that the 1290 is bad about that if i put a second battery on it where would i put it

Try retarding the timing at idle first? (that is if you have a Powercommander)

Get a second gel cell and put it in the tail. Use a smaller golf cart type batt, and wire it for a 24v starter. You will love it!!!

I just did one with 13.8 comp and no problem starting when HOT

I have done everything I can think of to cure hard starting of my 1427 while keeping a single battery. I don't have hard starting now, but next time i will take ra's path and simply go 24v on the starter circuit.
BTW: "everything" includes hanging a 15# gelcell in front of the R wheel, between the swingarms (10" ext).
