Best exhaust

I have a completely stock 03 Blackbird. The first mods I am looking at are sprockets and a full pipe. I allready have the sprockets ordered. What I would like is your opinions on exhausts. I would prefer something with a deep tone to it, but my main concern is which pipe is going to produce the most power.

If your MAIN CONCERN was about power, why did you buy a blackbird? When i owned a 1998 zx11 and ask why the 99 zx9's were beating me, and what could i do...... The answer was save my money and buy a zx9. This was 1999. I bought a 2000 zx12 the next year instead, and that solved my power issue. I think you should consider the same, before spending much money. Enjoy your blackbird, but be smart about investing money into it.

He didn't say he wanted the most power of any motorcycle, just the most for his bike. What's so hard to understand? Why must you come down so hard on the guy?

Fastxx78, there aren't many Honda folks around here. Muzzy makes excellent exhaust systems. You might want to call Velocity Racing (.com) or Erion Racing (.com) and see what they like, they have had lotsa success racing Hondas.

I think Y2KZX12R had an XX with a Yosh pipe on it.

The best kind of pipe is similiar to the one ol Dean has on his ZRX.. with the little spooly deal hooked to it....lol

Ask KBryant on the ZX10 forum...... he's a big Honda fanatic! He's also VP at Jardine!

zrxdean, didn't mean to be hard, just didn't want the guy to waste his money. The xx only makes about 130 regardless, so spending bucks on pipes and ect, to me would be better spent on other things. The bike is heavy but a comfortable ride. Just trying to help the guy get some perspective prior to deep investment. My friend help me not waste money on my zx11, so I was just making a suggestion.

Ti force would take some girth off that bigboy... but at $1200...

Ive never seen an Akra on a BB. Wierd.

We rode with a big bore BB this weekend... I rolled on with my stock motored ZX12 and put some good distance on him. For the amount of CCs he was running, seemed slow.

I am not trying to be the fastest bike at the track. If all I wanted to do was go fast I would have just gotten a Busa and put a turbo on it. I like the Bird for it's attributes as a streetbike, which is after all where it spends the vast majority of it's time. I did 980 miles a couple of saturdays ago with no problem at all. I had a blast. To me, the track is just one more way to enjoy the bike, but certainly not the main reason I own it. I have just gotten to the point that I would like to get a little more out of it. I never said horsepwer was my only reason for putting a pipe on it, but a full system is cheaper than a slip on and if I am gonna spend the money to put a pipe on it I may as well get what I can out of it. Also, if I wanted to go really fast, the expense of getting another new bike would make it more than worthwhile to just put a turbo on this one and be ahead of the game.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I would contact Berry and see which one makes the most power for the Blackbird..... Akropovic and Muzzy made the most power for the ZX12R. HMF and Brock Hindle made the most power for the Busa....but I could not tell you what makes the most power for the Bird!

I hear ya on the Turbo.....You will not need a different bike....just slap a turbo on and not only will you be fast....but comfortable as well!!!!

I was seriously thinking about a Bird for the everyday cruiser!!! Nice power and comfortable seating position....

Try K. Bryant first on the ZX10 forum. I dont think Barrys tuned too many street Hondas lately.

I have actually toyed with that idea, but I am not sure if I want to spend that much money yet.

The cheapest kits I have seen are listed at 3700 and I am sure there are some more costs involved somewhere, not even counting instalation. Also, what are the odds I would screw it up if I tried to do it myself?

Well look at it this way... a good pipe and tuning session could quickly burn $1000 up fast.
Im not sure if American Turbo is still in business, but they had an Aerocharger kit that worked ok and was good for about 200 rwhp.
Velocity probably has a low budget kit available by now.

I think I have made up my mind to get the Akra witht the Ti canister. The cheapest I have found so far is $699 plus $30 shipping. If anybody knows of a better deal please let me know. Also, does anybody know of any sound clips. I have heard an Akra on a XX before but it has been quite a while.
