Dry NOS question

I have installed a dry kit on my 1270 ZX12 and have a few questions for those who have done this. I installed a #32 jet with cam 2 110 octane race fuel. I first tried richening the face of the Power Comander 2 bars at high rpm and it nocked pretty hard. then tried all the way rich and it surged at 9500 rpm and felt rich. That is when I changed the actual map.I added 25 to the 100% column on a standard 1270 Muzzy map.I was hopeing to be safe (rich) which I was, dyno at Road America this past weekend netted 215 HP with the AF ratio at about 11.5:1. I read a post possibly by Vozism? where he said to add half of the jet size which looks like it may be pretty close given the #'s I have already tried and the results. My questions are, do I need race fuel for this combination and if I should retard the timing from stock?

With just the 3rd Button on the PC, I was able to use +60 HPand run in the 12 to 1 ratio! The reason this is better is when not using NOS, you can easily reset to Stock fuel!

Also if you have your bottle backwards in the tail section this may also hurt!

11.5:1 is a nice safe ratio certainly getting enough fuel.

Oh I would pull some timing out for sure. Just do it at full throttle settings say above 6500 rpm or so. 3 or 4 degrees. Better safe than sorry

no need for that if he is running 110 fuel. Pump gas perhaps..but certainly not 110.

Thanks guys, at 11.5 af it initially hits pretty hard then surges and misses at 9500-10000 rpm and above.Vincent, how many bars are you raising it? It would be nice not having to plug in a pc every time. Do you run 60 hp with 92 octane and no additives?

BTW I am running 2 1# bottles and they are not mounted backwards. If anyone wants a picture of how they are mounted I can email them one.

you dont need race (high octane) fuel for that combo. You should be able to run up to a #40 jet with no problems on pump gas as long as you remove any ignition advance.
