2001 gsxr 1000 problems help
bike ran great till i tried to wire up my ign kill box while i was there i was told u can remove the first set of butterflys to get motor to react better so i did whent for ride down low motor ran great but up top seems to loose all power hardly rev out in second then got a fi lights went back and found battery ground to be loose this fixed the light but not the lack of power tried reinstalin the butterflies no difference anyone help me thank to anyone with an idea

well i think i have found tha problem went to local grocery store on bike to food low and behold i leave rasing hell like usual and the bike does as described above then suddely lets go chain breaks thrashes my brand new hot body undertail chrome chain guard and leg so there we are me and my dad tryin to get bike home its about four miles up hill so we end up with motorcycle strap and jumper cables to pull bike with u might be a redneck if huh does this sound usual i mean was chain about to break causing engine to lag sounds kinda strange no motor damage or water pump on the clutch cover is broke

that is the longest sentence I've ever seen.
I wouldn't be thinking that the chain was the problem, but rather a symptom. I'd say something made it break. (not knowing anything about it's mileage or care)

i think i had chain to tight. Hows that ya see tha decimal lol. Wheel bearings are as smoothe as can be i had trouble getting rivited chain on couldnt quite get the chain totally straight. Guess that was a costly move huh chain is fairly new less than 1000 miles> it prob has seen less lube than it needed as far as the motor goes sounds great no leaks. no in or out slack in the drive gear so who knows. will have a new cover tomorrow and try again i guess

heheh, RA, I was thinking about the bearing too! I just thought I'd not play all my cards at once and let the thread develop naturally! 
Draggsxr, hope that was all it was man! Do you clean off all that white crap the chains come with? I don't know if it's necessary, but I clean that sticky crap off completely and then heat up the chain good before puttin' the good oil on her.

well here is my greatest down fall when installing swingarm i always hang rear subframe from celing of my building. Here where it gets bad not thinkin i adjusted my chain with swing arm hanging by its own weight. God only knows how tight it was when i sat on the bike plus new rear suspension has a lot of travel so it moved like 4 to 5 in down on the swing arm. Now thats prob tight enough come to think of it i was in a turn rollin on the throttle when i got a poppin sound prob a link coming apart im just glad i didnt tear up anything else. If u need parts and are on the east coast try Jacks cycle salvage ask for andy he is great to work with new cover for 60 bucks cant beat that

wrong awnser the chain had jack didly shit to do with it. Guess what when ya lower tha tank might wanna make sure tha fuel line is outa tha way huh. the mech charged me 50.00 too look at it and put it on the dyno for one run what a rip off huh

no offense to you draggsxr, but when I do stuff like that (which is all too often) I just call it a "stupidity tax".
I pay that tax frequently.
