2004 R1 @ Gainesville

Copied and pasted from a post on R1 forums. It's definitely legit. I met the guy before he got the R1, he was on an older ZX7 with a big bore kit running low 10s @ 138mph stock wheelbase.

I wish I had my bike running that same night he ran, it was GOOD weather. Same night Deano and the turbo GSXR1000 were running.

Hey guy's , It's a pleasure to see some back up there Talk way to ride

RT -.011
60' 1.722
330' 4.38
1/8 6.46
mph 118.53
1000' 8.275
1/4 9.81
mph144.95

That is my first run in the nines . Had to be licensed to keep running them at Gainesville. So I did just that wedensday. during test for license 9.87@147.60 & 9.96@146.05

That is stock, no cat, Schnitz straps on the front.
First shown is stock gearing, thats ok but you got to keep the rpm up at seven leaving or more if yaint scared . thats how it is done roadracing.

Second two numbers is all I have had a chance to run and that is the same only with a sixteen up front. I will be at Gainesville this Saturday for the local points running.

Any gearing it can wheelie in third if you want to put on a show
Im staying with the sixteen for this weekend.

Best 60' 1.690 with 16 t 17t 1.722
Best MPH 147.68 twice
Best 1/4 9.819
Best 1/8 6.46 @ 118.53

Just getting warmed up to her hopefully I can improve some it would be nice to see a high 9.7 Im working on it

Take care all, Thanks for your post's. Come to Gainesville sometime , Schedule is online at www.Gainesvilleraceway.com
Most of all have fun

I talked with this Rob Clay for a while - very pleasant guy. He said he had just bought the bike, and we didn't talk ETs, nor did I see him make a pass all night. Impressive riding so far - imagine when he gets more seat time and some work done to it. Mid nines easy.

The first times listed is what he ran two weeks ago. The other times were during his license passes.

I think I WHEELIED past him (at about 1/8-mile) a couple of Sat. nights ago during eliminations...SUPER nice dude...he was still laughing about my wheelie when we got back to the lanes...LOL...
VERY coool swingarm on those new R1s...looks a lot heavier than it really is...it's cast and hollowed out on the backside where it's hard to see

Yeah, he's a really nice guy. I chatted with him in the lanes back in Feb when I was making my license passes. He was on the ZX7.
