modifying a sidstand for a lowered 12

Guys,
I have just got my hands on a spare sidestand that I need to shorten to allow it to work on my soon to be lowered 12.
I will be droping it about1.5 to 2 inches in the tree and the middle hole in the Spencer dogbones, 2 inches I think in the rear.
Do I simply cut 2" off the bottom of the sidestand and re-weld the plate at the bottom?
Any help would be appreciated.

I cut off 1" from the bottom of mine (rewelded the foot)...and its not enough for the bike when its completely strapped down (and lowered in the rear)...wish ida taken off another half inch or so.

Cut it a little at a time to figure out where you want your bike to lean. Then just tack the foot on and tap it so that it sits flat on pavement. Then weld it on for good. I didn't do that with mine and the foot looks like its kind of pointing in the air. No biggie but a little goofie looking...

Cut the kickstand just below the lever where you put your foot on it to lower the stand. Get some 1/2 steel tube stock and use about 5" of it. Reweld the "foot" part of the kickstand onto the stock and drill your holes for being lowered and stock height.

Had an extra shortened about 1.5in. Works perfect when on the middle hole in the Muzzy links, and strapped in the front. Not sure how it'll sit lowered all the way in the back.

I cut an 1 1/4 And it was not enough. It works fine untill you draw strap tight. Then it don't have hardly any lean when on side stand. 1 1/2 would be better. IMHO

Or spend about $160 and get a nice machined from Billet aluminum adjustable from Spencer or about $140 from Schnitz! Real nice piece of work!

Job done!
Simply cut out 1 1/2" of tube near the foot, just waiting for access to a welder to glue the foot back on.
Thanks for the tips!
