Lowering links?

I've seen 3 hole adjustable lowering links for $35, are they easy to install? Where can I find the procedure for going from stock to the other holes? Do I need to lift and support the bike at the center of the engine?

all I can tell ya is that the 12R's rear shock is not centered, therefore, using a jack under it is a bit precarious, even when used with a rear-stand.
