Went to CNN and read the story. Wow, they actually got him. And the fucker was hiding in a hole under a mud hut...Considering that muslims consider being called dirty one of the highest forms of insult, I would call that poetic justice. Woulda been better if they woulda sent in a K9 unit to 'extract' him...I think that's even a worse affront to a muslim, being some german shepherd's bitch.

Capturing him alive is the best possible way. A "coward" is the ultimate insult in the arab nations. This will be a devistating blow against the terrorist groups in both Iraq and Afghanistan. By letting the Iraqis conduct the trail will be the true turnung point in Iraqi history and hopefully lead to a rapid conclusion to "large" presence of our troops in the country.
I've got a boatload of "political opinions" on this, both for Iraq and here in the U.S., but I'll save those for another thread.

redelk, my sentiments exactly. being taken alive and aparently without a fight has got to be the the best thing that could have happened. His behaviour flies in the face of all they believe in (at least as i understand it) and definitely is contrary to the image he always put forth. this has GOT to demoralize even his most fervent [sp?] supporters. hopefully it will mean there won't be much in the way of retaliation as his supporters will be to embarassed to side with him anymore, tho i suspect this is unfortunately little more than wishful thinking.
be interesting to see how this plays out in terms of course, judgement, and punishment.

It really doesn't appear that he was directing any of the recent activity in Iraq. That means that the terrorists are probably not fighting to support Saddam, but are fighting against the occupying forces.
