2003: entropy not contributing to bikeland :-(
Sorry folks, I have not been holding up my end (got = give) in this GREAT forum. More lurking than contributing during 2003.
my biz travel this year has been relentless and is not done yet; but hopefully during 2004 I can be more helpful...

i am hoping to duplicate yr schedule in 2004! Except the basement (don't have one), and the vacuuming (i'm not qualified on it yet).

Some travel is cool, too much is a blur as pointed out above .
Fish,
the best vaca place is Brian's (labusas guy) resort hotel on Koh Samui Island in Thailand. Northwest occaisonally has specials under $500 airfare to get to Bankok, only another $150 for the 1 hr flight to the island. Bar babies are extra...
I have missed 4 of the 5 races in the Texas Shootout and several visits to my in laws

Hey EBD,
do you mean that the opportunity to make $10,000,000 isn't real????? all you have to do is send your bank account info so they can make the deposit!!!!

That is alot of places in one year! It seems every big overseas trip is followed by a stop in the US. Do you debrief at the local safe house?
Do you get to have sex with hot spy chicks? Do you get to kill oily haired bad guys? Shaken or stirred?

i dont think i'v ever met someone who travels alot who didnt say they'd prefer to stay put, or a person who never goes anywhere (me) who didnt say they'd prefer to travel. i'd LOVE to get some travel time paid for by work. tho im not naive enough to think it's all peachy keen. i went to tokyo and back twice within a few months a couple years ago & it wasnt exactly a comfortable flight, even when i had the laptop so i could get some work done. admittedly, it woulda been better if i werent in coach, or on JAL where the seats are positioned for 5'nothing japanese people who need no legroom, or air canada, who has a larger target audience but are a buncha idiotic cheapskates when it comes to their customers (but not their executives) and dont give no legroom either. but it does annoy me a bit when i hear people who go everywhere first/executive class and are put up in 4 or 5 star hotels with fancy meals and everything covered. and i hear it alot, as my sister's husband flies at least once a week and gets the royal treatment. and all u hear is how hard life is. pffftt!!! i'll trade ya any time!.
damnit, i really gotta stop gettin on rants alla time!

I am not bitching about the travel (its good to have a job!); my only bitch is that my job makes me miss races.

Hey! I don't see Adak, Alaska on that list.
By the way, if they try to send you to Bataam, Indonesia, do your best to get out of that trip. I'm only going to warn you once.

Entropy what do you do?
That is alot of traveling! Like alot, alot. I met a cat who flies in one of those spy planes that crash landed in China and even he doesn't travel that much. Is there a lot of time zone hopping? How long did it take you to adjust to that?

Wannabe,
i've never been to Alaska, never mind specifically Adak. My sister has lived in fairbanks for 20+ yrs but my bro in law is a 6'6", 280# part-time psycho who doesn't take enough medicine... I've not been to Bataam, but if its anything like Pekanbaru, i will take yr advice.
zxf,
I handle purch/maint contracts for rotating equipment (turbines, pumps, compressors, etc) for ChevronTexaco. I visit the vendors manufact & service sites as well as ChvTx's operations sites; hence the travel.
Lots of time zones. Next week i start my 10d, 2003 finale: Hou-Tokyo-Hong Kong-Rome-Zurich-Hou. Woo-hoo!!! 20K FF mi!!!
Luckily I don't get affected by time zone hopping anymore; cured 15 yrs ago by taking "Prosom" (a hypnotic, scrip only) when i was doing a 28/28 rotation job in Angola, but living in Colombia/Miami. I only took it for 3 rotations, but jet lag went away. Go figure.
I have large fun doing this, but I really miss out on bike stuff. Oh well, next year should be 1/2 the travel of this year. More time for my bike & track.

Wow. Yeah - you get around muh man.
....and although my business travel is comfortable most of the time I'd still rather stay at the crib.
And usually I don't get to see much of any of the city I'm in: airport, taxi (rental car), office, some restaraunt, bar, hotel. Repeast as often as necessary. Sometimes I have to look at my plane ticket when I wake up in the morning to figure out where the hell I am.
