Yup, I just ordered my 3-9" extended arm. It's a bummer that they don't take credit cards.

So what's the deal with Coby? Does he have a shop that will do work for any average Joe, or is he strictly doing work for the pros? I can't find any info on his shop using google.

Hell you can't get any of the shit he did to his own 14. I had my 10 head over there and he couldn't even put a valve spring package together for it. YET! during the same time he figured one out for the 14 and installed it. So YES! Coby's shit hauls ass, but the stuff he does for himself aint what you, or I get. I told him I wanted the BEST cylinder head for my 10 that he could do. NOT the cheapest or the best deal. I can understand if a guy says he can't get a part because that kind of thing happens, but while he was telling me that shit he was coughing up the same spring kit for that 14. Go figure... It made me a real happy customer when I had to put STOCK valve springs back in my motor because THE MAN by everyone's definition couldn't produce a spring kit for a motor that he's suppose to be the King Shit Daddy for. He can produce those type things for HIS OWN stuff. He proved that to me. And I won't even get started with the fact that after I dropped the money with him for a cylinder head he wouldn't even give me any cam degree numbers!!!! Smooth move.... I agree these things cost him money to learn, BUT I spent the money with him and he still said put my cams in on the Stock!!!! bolt hole pattern.... WTF!!!!!!!! Once you pay the man he should get a little more free with some help on these type of things. NOT COOL!

Damn, it sucks you had a bad experience Mike. So what did you wind up with?? Just a zx10 head with a mild port clean up and a nice valve job? From what i've read, the 10's head can't be cleaned up a whole lot. Did he elaborate on what he did to your head? Were you pleased with the performance results? (despite the valve spring and cam degreeing SNAFU)

That's the BIGEST pisser of all. You are correct in saying there's NOT much to do in the way of port work to a 10 head. What I expected to be paying for was TOP NOTCH valve work.. Guess what????? He done ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! valve work.... Notta, None, Zip, Zero,!!! It was such a bargan for only a $1000 bucks. It's NOT the biggest fuckin I ever took on a cylinder head, BUT it rates right up there. Jim Dotich still sits on top of that honor for me personally. I got a head back from him that aint fit for nothing but mock up work. At least this head wasn't fucked up. Like I said Coby is smart and his stuff hauls ass, OR if you are running in a class he wants to stir business in he'll probably give you some good shit. But, for the average street guy that he can pack off improper assembly as the reason for the lack of power you AINT going to get much.

I'll come to Coby's aid a little, altho I don't know if he needs it or not.
I bought a ZX12 motor from him last season. I'm pretty much of a novice when it comes to knowing motors, so he asked me if I wanted a super fast motor or reasonably fast motor. He explained the super fast would have to be rebuilt often but the reasonably fast one would be fairly reliable. I went for reliability. I had problems caused by the nitrous in that I had to have the block repaired and buy a new piston. He gave my friend who knows motors very well enough info to get the cams in properly after we failed to mark them before removing them. He was probably a little hesitant to give up everything, but there was enough there.
I am very satisfied with the motor, especially after my friend Super Dave set up my lock up clutch. I haven't driven it yet, but during the early stages of clutch set up, the 60' times are 1.36 - 1.37 and 1/8 time of 5.62 and 5.63 at 126mph on motor. After getting the clutch set up, we found that 2nd gear had worn out, probably due to all the messing around I did trying to set the lock up myself, so we couldn't run with nitrous. I expect when the transmission is rebuilt, that I will be able to run pretty much the same times as Dave, as we are not to much different in weight.
For a reasonably fast motor, I am pretty happy.

Simply put the tricks are in the valve job and chamber work. Coby done neither. If he had a better cylinder head I would have got it. I point blank ask him if this was the best head he does for the 10. I don't penny pinch when it comes to motor work. I'm not crying about the grand either. At least I have something to show for it. It may not be the best he can do but like I said it's NOT hurt and still useable.( I have got back heads before that were paper weights from other people) It should be as good or better than stock at least. But the same grand would have been better spent on a piston kit.

Yep Buddy's Motor sounds very nice and it sure looked good off the line
at the Texas Mile even gear with a 42 on the back. Can't wait till the next
ShootOut to see him run. He did get a smoking deal on the motor too.
