Unfortunately the ECU's in the ZX-12 are potted in epoxy. If you open them all you see is big brick of black plastic.
It is my belief however that they use onboard FLASH, not EPROMs, and that they can be reprogrammed through the Aux connector without opening them up.
Again I put out my yearly offer to disect and reverse engineer the ECU to figure out how to program it and share this knowledge with the world. All I need is someone to donate an ECU, working or not.

i see it this way, with this thing haked you will need the PC3 just for ease of use, but some parameters that you can adjust and leave fixed it will be nice.
water temp fan
rev limiter
etc.

I'm thinking I'll put a spare laptop MB and connection into the bike if I can hack into the ECU . Screw the PC-IIIr - why bother? I can make on the fly updates with the laptop!!

Hey Marcos - you are still in the DR, correct? How's the weather down there? I'm thinking about planning out a vacation to Casa de Campo with my GF this year... She's never been to the DR and I'd love to take her there and spend a week (too see Santa Domingo etc). I was in the DR years ago on work and I miss the discotechas of Santa Domingo... and Mofungo (although we can get some stuff that is CLOSE to the Mofungo you get in the DR here at NYC).

Any year ECU would work. The bad news is it will no longer be usable when I'm done with it, the good news is it doesn't have work when I get it. One that had a bad injector driver or somekind of blown sensor input would be perfect. Or if you just totalled your bike and you got one laying around the garage collecting dust.
While I have the technical knowledge to take on this project I don't have the financial means to go out and buy new ECUs just to tear them apart. But I know some of you around here have gone through several 12s over the years and some of you have worked for or with dealers. It stands to reason that someone somewhere has an old ECU laying around thats broke or they didn't bother to sell that they would be willing to donate to the eternal quest for speed and the greater good of bikedom.
