timing advance

Whats the most timing advance you are running, at this point I have 7 degrees at 100 % T .
Its a 1287 and it seems to like the timing, have you seen any hard evidence that the oil level is critical on the 12? It dynoed last week @ 181 with no PC, we installed one yesterday and bumped to 190, with high oil level. Today I'm going to change the oil to 10/40 syn at the correct level and play some more.

Man, that's a lot of advance. But as long as the fuel's rich enough, why not?

Dude, we are all here to help, but dang man, what kind of question is that?!?!? Do you read?????

To answer that kind of question for you, NO THE OIL LEVEL IN MOTORS ARE NOT CRITICAL!!! If you need verification, ask Muzzy's they advised to run the oil level low in the sight glass for more HP. Less is More.......

More advance + Less Oil = More action!!! Dude, you know some of the secrets for the zx12 to drawn attention at the track!

Be very careful. Better hp with lower oil levels on the dyno does NOT necessarily mean that you can get away with it on the track. Are you willing to risk your engine for that last 2 or 3 hp? I'm not.
Middle of the window is safe and won't cause undue windage.
Same caution applys to excessive lead. Under different conditions, like high outside air temp, a slightly bad load of gas, a fuel pump that's not quite up to par and you have no cushion left. What you have is a hole in a piston.

Yesterday we installed the PC3R and used the mapping software and came up to 190.9 from the previous 181 last week without the 3R. This morning I changed the oil to the Mobil One MTX 10/40 and corrected the oil level to the middle of the sight glass, cleaned the air filters adjusted the chain and lubed. First run was 192.5 2nd 194.2 and then 195.5 after timing ot 6 degrees at 100%T.
This number Carpenter quoted for the 1287 motor.

Actually Jimp my reply was "VERY" sarcastic........I personally do NOT advise less oil, but actually put mine at the top of the window. Start your bike and look in the window........surprise!!! NO OIL

You will not here any pinging on your motor,,,,if you do it is more than pinging already.

At what advance was your torque the highest with the flatest curve?
