I made so much money in the early 60's that I had exempt from Social Security money. I made 2.75 and on a holiday weekend, I made 1.5 times Saturday 2.0 times on Sunday and on the holiday Monday, I made 3.0 times $8.50 per hour! The next week when I got a "Regular check" I almost quit Not quite $100.00 after getting a check for twice that much the previous week! Do I need to mention I was buying Premium Gas for 27.9 and could get regular for 21.9 in places Then again I was also getting change back from my dollar at Mcdonalds! .25 fish .20 for (2) bags of fries and .22 for a chocolate shake! If you wanted Ketchup, you had to buy a "Dunk" Cup for .02 (A little paper cup to dunk your fries into!
I amlost forgot to mention my "Motorcycle" A 1956 Harley Hummer 125 CC ! USD front forks, the original Sportster gas tank and I had an "Off Road" High pipe! 1.75 Brake HP when I was 15 years old (Under 5 brake hp law in Ohio! Of course I had a friend with a 1957 sportster with a 5 HP Sticker The Hot bikes then were 200 cc Triumph tiger cub (with the Kit) a 250 CC Zundapp Super saber 2 stroke and an 250 CC NSU Super Max. Us lessers had JBK 125 CC Parillia 125 CC BSA Bantan 175 CC and the 165 Harley "Super 10"! The Big bikes were Ariel square 4 - 650 CC BSA 650 Lightening, Triumph T120 Bonneville (Dual Carb) AJS AND Matchless 500's Harley Flat Head K Models and Citation 500 twin! The Ducaties had a 250 CC Bike and I met in person Franco Farne in 1958 or 1959 A small skinny did not know who or how important until years later! Dual Glide was because Harley finally put suspension on the rear!

They were neat bikes then, but now, I think about how I Bent the frame on the Harley jumping this hill, the horrible pain in my right foot from the "Back Kick" of the Matchless, breaking shifter cables on the JBK, and my friend on his Parillia 50 cc bike "Out running" my Harley when he finally had enough of me!
Bryant, Daytona is easy. In 1982, I was 4th ranked Amature in the AMA. I was on the Pole for the 250 race. (The nut backed off of the primary gear, tigntened up the engine and it turned off just before the start of the race) As far as I or anyone else knows, there has never been a Black person on the "Pole" for any race at Daytona before or since this.
Second, in 1983, I qualified 67 and finished 33 (Ran in the top 20 a few times before the oil leak) Again, as far as I or anyone else knows, I was the First Black person to qualify and finish the Daytona 200!
Fast Old Man, 2 parts to that, When I was finishing 3rd in the superbike Heat race at Charlotte behing Eddie Lawson and Richard Chambers, Finished 11th after getting tired while in 6th place at Road Atlanta, I was in my "40's"! 2nd part is I have set a Land Speed Record at Maxton, Run over 182 and plan to run over 200 at the end of the month! My Birthday is the 21st of October and I will be 60 when I do this! Not a lot of people over 60 at Maxton in the 200 MPH Club! (From working on my bike and seeing what it will do, I am actually admitting that I am growing afraid of doing this! Having an instant 40 to 60 HP Hit you in top gear at about 150 mph scares me right now. If it scares me too much and I have trouble controlling wheel spin when I hit the button, I will then use the lower feed bottle. If still too much, then I will stop and get a progressive controller and try next year! I did not get this old by doing something I could not control!)
Signed Getting Afraid!

Fish, that is "Terrible"!!
Princess, I really know what you mean! WOrse yet, if you do "NOT" take their check, they are as insulted as if you had talked about their Mothers!
Everyone please realize that the strongest animals are Vegetarians! Everyone says Strong as a (Bull, Ox, Horse, Elephant, no one says Tiger or Lion, exccept maybe the guy in Vegas??) I wish more people eat meat, why? Beause it is raising the price of my food because it is becomming popular! Putting all joaking aside, nothing looks better than a grilled steak! Nothing smells better than BBQ Ribs! If I went by smell, I could not be a vegetarian!
