242MPH: New all-time ECTA Maxton record
I heard Wayne Pollack turned up the heat and set a new all-time ECTA record of 242 MPH in the Maxton Mile this weekend! Way to go Wayne!!
quote from Scott Guthrie:
"Wayne Pollack, riding the beautiful #8 Budweiser Mr. Turbo Hayabusa built and tuned by Rich Yancy, blasted through the Maxton Monster Mile at well over 242 MPH Sunday afternoon.
The official 242.58760 MPH is by far a new Track and Motorcycle record at Maxton, the old record being "only" 236 MPH set by Yancy and Pollack in June of this year.
Builder Rich Yancy hammered through the lights himself at over 231 MPH on a test run."

Continued Quote:
Wayne riding and Yancy tuning made a pretty impressive show on Sunday.
Over a period of about (eat your hearts out, you Bonneville and El Mirage guys) three (3) hours, Wayne achieved the following five speeds, and set a record each time:
RUN #1 237.988 MPH
RUN #2 238.265 MPH
RUN #3 239.336 MPH
RUN #4 240.358 MPH
RUN #5 242.587 MPH
A model of consistant riding, and accurate tuning.
Wayne thinks there's more in the bike.
So does Rich.
Great job! Congratulations!

Both these guys are true gentlemen too. A credit to our sport....even though it's on a 'Busa!
I'm still trying to figure out how they stop that thing before the sand & gravel path.
I sure would like to make a pass on that scooter.

Wow! That's impressive. Did he do that speed with the bike looking like it is in the picture?
How does his record compare to John Noonan's 246mph @ Bonneville?

They answer is they dont stop before the sand! Last time I saw Steve Knecum barrel thru the traps at 234+ MPH there was a tremendous cloud of dust as he blew thru the dirt trap on the top end of the shutdown area!
Noonan did his run on the salt over a much larger stretch of several miles. This 242 MPH run was done from a standing-start in ONE MILE.

I am really mad now! That record would have been on a Kawasaki If I had been there I do not even think I want to go that fast even if it was at Kennedy!
