They all overheat put a manual fan switch on it and connect it to a relay wired to ignition +12v so that the fans come on whenever the bike is running - done.

That will run your battery down.....if you are not riding at highway speed most of the time. Stop and go cruising, you will be in trouble by night time.

RAC4IT - It's even easier than that. The fan is wired to constant +12v in any case. All you have to do is to wire the switch for the emergency flasher (who uses that?) so that you provide a return path for the power.

The 1270 seems to be reliable enough for me. The only overheating issue that I had was when we were stuck in 20mph (stop and go) downtown Chicago traffic in 85+ degree weather.

I have no issues with normal riding in the small towns around here.

I have NEVER had any problems with overheating. Use some Distilled water and Water Wetter with the "correct" antifreeze mixture!! It works....

Mine is stock, and it seems unbearable after few minutes in stop and go traffic.

With my 1270 6 over, I ran 9.14 earlier this year. Backed it up with a 9.15, 9.16, 9.18, 9.19 all that day. No NOS.
