Well, the part numbers are different and that is not a good sign.
27005-5112 - '00 SWITCH-ASSY-IGNITION (switch assembly)
92002-1333 - '00 BOLT,TORX,6X16 (2 required)
27005-5120 - '02 SWITCH-ASSY-IGNITION (switch assembly)
92151-1911 - '02 BOLT,TORX,6X16 (2 required)
The spring washers used (461L0600) with the torx bolts have not changed.
Since the top triple clamp design was change on the B series ('02-'03), there's a good chance that the location of where the two torx bolt go through the switch assembly and into the bottom of the top triple clamp has also changed.
Odds are that the plugs would be the same. So, if KHI just changed ignition switch vendors (one of many reasons why a part number changes, but the physical part is no different) and the '02 connector, as well as the bolt holes match... it should work.
A WORD OF CAUTION!
Compare the wiring diagrams of the two switches in their respective service manuals. You'll note that some of the wires coming from the switch to the plug will be a different color on the other side of the plug. Even if the colors of the wires coming out both switches are the same, it does not necessarily mean that they are connected to the same terminal on the plug or in the switch itself.
Such an "electrical mistake" could mean that the bike just won't start or you could fry something a tad more costly. If anything, just use a tester on the switch's plug terminals and make sure that the right wires do the right thing when the key is turned to certain positions.
Basically, a resistence test on two terminals to see if when the key is on, the wire at terminal "X" and terminals "Y" & "Z" would be connected (x,y & z might be terminal #1, #2 , or what ever wire you testing).
