no one wants hats?
ok folks, i really hate to post this, but we're in a bit of a jam.
we still have quite a few hats left. given how many people expressed interest and how few we ordered, we fully expected they would all sell out in no time flat. but here we are a week after opening the shop and we've only had 9 orders, and it seems the flow of orders has leveled off to nothing. problem is fish had to put the hats on his credit card, and it's a bill we can't swallow. so if people are jsut holding off on ordering hats, please get ur orders in now! there were plenty of people who said they wanted one way back when the idea was presented, so where are they all?
i know many of you are waiting on shirts, but they can't happen till the hats are gone since we have to roll the money into a shirt order. we're only breaking even on the hats as it is (first run is very expensive).
to those who have already ordered: thank you! most (if not all) of your hats are in the mail. to those that have not ordered, go to http://www.bikeland.org/hats.php to check em out and order one if u like what u see.

I'd take the one that says "bikeland.org". I like the lettering on the other one better, but it's not as nice because it's too wide in the front.

I'm not sure I understand the problem with paypal..... since we are all spread out around the world doesnt using Paypal who accepts credit cards make the most sense?
If I am not mistaken you dont have to register etc, you can just pay so I dont see the problem?
We cant accept cash... how would we take it and then deal with the time lag etc? We all have jobs and have to go to work too!
Anyways... . if someone could enlighten me to whatever "problems" they perceive to be associated with Paypal we will gladly look into a solution, but this site is basically a charity and we defintely dont have the time or the money to get a real visa merchant account (which is why we are using Paypal)
And BTW... after all of the complaints over the years about the lack of hats etc etc, I honestly am shocked that only 9 people out of 2700 stepped up to the plate and bought a hat.

I just clicked on the "purchase" field and the only items Paypal is asking for is standard credit card billing information that you would have to give with ANY online purchase (ie: creditcard #, address and shipping address) ...
I am honestly perplexed as to how this would be a reason not to purchase a hat?

Don't know if you're aware of this, but PayPal was "hacked" some years back, & personal credit card numbers were stolen & used. That's why I don't use it. I work with, & know several astounding PC geeks that can hack into ANYTHING they want to; & their hobby is accepting challenges to hack into various "secure" sites (typically with astonishing ease), doing it from their car through someone's insecure high speed wireless site.
This is the latest craze they been doing on lunch hour &/or at night (went w/them the other day), with a "beam" type wireless antenna, searching unsecured wireless networks. The sheer amount of unprotected (no firewall, etc.) wireless networks is unbelievable! I was quite surprised to find out people put them up in their businesses without even bothering to put in passwords!
These guys get any software in existence that way. Pay for software? No way sez these guys....then they use peoples computers for storing this software, "relaying" packages between sites, using "hidden" unknown anonymous FTP websites for storing stuff.....& the PC owners have absolutely no idea...
It's really quite incredible the amount of hacking these guys do. Not malicious destructive stuff (like viruses), but man do these guys get their hands on any software they want....shew! My bud says he's been in PayPal several times, & it is easy? Yikes! Luckily they are not using that stuff (cc numbers) to buy things like the criminals do- although they sternly warn me not to use MY cc # anyplace online....
After watching the speed & apparent ease of them getting into other sites, I tend to agree. I tend to phone in CC orders instead of typing them into websites... better safe than sorry I figure...

...ok, I want a black ZX-12R Zone.com cap...I already have a bikeland.org cap...I'll have to send you a cashier's check...I don't care about the time lag of when it gets to me, but I'll send you a cashier's check for the Zone.com and bikeland.org caps...
...seems if the caps were that expensive to tool up, ya' coulda' tooled up for t-shirts FIRST instead and would've have been sold out last week, but that's just my selfish opinion  ...

i can understand the misgivings about using CC over the net, but unfortunately other forms of payment are simply present too much hastle and risk. frankly we've spent a huge amount of time on these hats and neither of us has more time to spare. end result being we just cant deal with non-instantaneous payments. i would love to put them on my own card & just say "pay me whenever" since i trust most folks here to do so, but i dont have dollar one available on my card.. shit, i cant even make the minimum payments.
i will however see if i can get an associate with a merchant account to agree to take orders for us, which would mean we could take CC numbers over the phone for those concerned about paypal. not sure if i can convince him it's worth the risk tho. most would flatly refuse since it leaves them open to chargebacks. but will see what i can do.

East..... everything gets hacked... even my own bank... that's a reality nowadays....
We have chosen one of the largest and most reliable merchant providers (being paypal) and the site (me, freek et all) PAY them per transaction to accept your money. If you choose to not use your CC online, or anywhere, that's your choice. You may miss getting a hat as a consequence.
worm.. . the zx-12rzone hats are BLUE not black...
and sorry everyone.... with all of the time everyone has put into all of this to pull it off the only payment we can accept is by credit card...

You can understand that we wouldn't want you rely on the postal service to secure a hat. Somebody else might have better mail service - and get their hat payment in before you do. Paypal makes it the same for everyone.

thx vincent, got ur order. u wont have a problem with fit. i have about the biggest head i'v ever come across (size XXL to XXXL for most helments) and it fits me quite comfortably. the bucket hat is the only one that might be considered tight for me, tho i still wear it without complaint. it is in fact the hat i chose to keep (budget means i dont get to keep one of each unfrotunately ). besides, i looks stupid in ball caps.
(ok ok, i left one WIIIIDE open for you there ninjaman & hos)

lol! hey come now, ur an engineer. minimum charge on input is $500
a point re paypal for the uninformed: the main reason people dislike them is they have (or had) a tendency to lock accounts for no reason. someone pays u money, they decide in what seems to be almost random logic, that it is a suspect transaction, and lock the account. takes u forever to get ur money out, if u ever do. of course, all the stories u hear may jsut be guilty parties who complain all loud and protest their innocence, i dont know. point is tho, that this is NOT an issue if u'r paying with paypal, jsut if ur accepting funds. for what it's worth, i'v had a paypal account for a few years and accepted payments in the range of several hundred dollars a few times without incident, and most of those could be construed as suspicious as they were from all over the world and not regular at all. so my experience has been positive. their fees to sellers are very reasonable too.
