Ohlins rear shock Hi guys.....I'm in winter build mode and while fooling with the front shocks, I was thinking about installing a rear Ohlins. One question, has anyone done it with the Muzzy lower links in place. From the pic on the Ohlins site, it looks like the reservour is parallel to the shock,(perpendicular like stock), which might cause a clearance issue?
Also, I plan to extend the control line and secure the remote up on the triple clamp for ease of use while riding, anyone ever done this?
Thanks,
Cliff

Cliff, just get a *remote* reservoir model then you can put it under the seat.

I was wondering the same thing as I can get the stocker to fade in 15-20 minutes of hard riding. I'm looking at all of them: Ohlins, Penske, Fox, etc. I know the Penske is the most adjustable, but $1500....good grief! Anyone tried the Penske yet?

Dave, HarryZx12 has the *premium* Penske. Nice piece too!
Here is an email I received on the Penske: We have three models available for that motorcycle, all three have the
same
rebound adjustment (25-30 clicks), the same preload adjustment
(threaded
collar), and the same ride hieght adjustment (12mm). The difference
between
the three is in the remote compression adjustment. the 8981 series has
6
conpression adjustments ($725.00). The 8986 series has 20-22
compression
adjustments ($925.00), and the 8987 series has independent high and low
speed compression adjustments.($1150.00)
thank you for your interst in Penske Racing shocks.
All of the shocks are offered in Piggyback (stock) and remote reservoir. All made to order too. I know there is a guy in Washington offering Ohlins for $800 setup for your weight.
Chuck at Street and Track import had some good prices on Ohlins too.

Penske 8620 I have a Penske and it's great. My rear tire used to bounce over some bumps but not any more. It's like riding a lighter bike with the suspension set up by GMD Computrack. They put heavier springs in the front forks and revalved. Rear shock was $1150 for the top of the line Penske 8620.

I saw the Ohlins today, it looks just like the stock shock, with the reservour perpendicular to the spring. It has a very sexy remote control, for the dampening adjustments etc. I plan to lenghten the line and set it up on the triple clamp with a nice mount, should look pretty sexy, who cares if it works!

Cliff, I'll post a pic of the Ohlins mounted on my bike. There's a slick way of routing the cable for the remote adjuster that hides the cable to the shock.
