Never ran a 60 on the front of my 12. Did that on my Gixxer 600 and I'll never do that shit again. Steering too sharp - tough to hold a line and it wanted to push pretty easy on the track.
Fell into corners like a motherfucker, though. But being able to be precise and smooth on my line is much better than sharp turn-in to me.

Thanks JonWright, sounds like what I'm experiencing. The bike does fall into turns with almost wreckless abandon. Pretty scary sometimes. Then couple that with pushing and feeling like it wants to wash out sure empties your bowels in a hurry!!!

I hardly qualify as a tire trasher, but I have run a 60, 65 and 70 up front. Keeping in mind that the 60 & 65 were run with a 180 on back. I could never get the suspension set up right with the 60 up front. WAAAAAAAAY too twitchy. Really liked running a 65 up front, but required a lot of tweaking and fork moving to get it close to what I wanted.
Now with the 7R swingarm on, I've gone back to a 70 up front. Again, after some serious tweaking of the suspension settings and trying a few brands of tires (Pilot Sports & Diablo Corsas), I think I have found "perfection". For now.
In the case of a 180/55 vs. 190/50, on Corsas, the 190 is 1/2" shorter (before mounting). Also, the preferred rim width for a 180/55 is 5.5" and the 12R rim is 6". I'll measure them again when Jonathan mounts his 190 Corsa.
