Is there any problem running a 40hp dry shot with a 1270 kit with standard pistons?

Not as long as there is plenty of fuel and air to mix with the NOS. i.e....Lots of octane, a lil ignition retard, and plenty of fuel to keep the mixture from leaning out should keep you in business for a while!

I'm waiting on the new A&J controller for my 12.
When will the zx12 dry controller be ready?
working on it....
probably toward the end of the year.
