Raced a 2003 12 tonight...
I saw a black and gold 12 at the red light . i went next to the guy , he looked at my bike unmarked and silver.
Then he ask me if i wanted to race him a the green light.
I say yes.
No 2003 12 for me... no thx
Don't mess with a 2000 ZX12R.
Slow bikes i'm telling you..
In one phrase i was very desapointed of the new 12R...that all

Ok I just bought a 03 and what's the 00 difference?
Is your bike all stock? It could be you been riding yours longer too.
You would beat me too because I am new at this compared to the old style of bike. Anyhow that's cool you won I wish you said it was a hayabusa, now that would be really
Cool.
My dealer had a 2000 in the crate for sale
but I passed for the 2003 I like the color and the intake I think it looks better I might someday buy a 2000 chip if thats the only differance.
the dealer told me to get a ???? and a muzzy pipe.
He is 59 and has a 2000 ZX12R and rides it to work everyday.
Thumbs down to the 03 ZX12R ????
What's the difference?

MadMike,
You tell me what the differance is I don't know, I would like to know.
What do you have to do to de-restrict it.
I thought is was just a chip thats what I had to do to my vette just change the chip and take off the converter.

the PC III(r) or yosh box. would be like a Car Chip, except you can program it however you would like, through the whole relm of throttle position and rpm's. now that is what most of us have, and a few people have the Muzzy EMS, now that does just about everything except fill up your gas tank...... and the BBox is a device that makes the ECU think that the bike is not in top gear so you will not hit the limiter at 186. hope this helps, oh and if your dealer said to just put a chip in it, I think he is on crack! I dont mean to be a smart ass, and I hope I dont sound that way but I'm on my way to bed, and it is after 3 and I have to be up in 3 hours......

GOZR...get over yourself. Lets see...anyone who waited until 2003 to buy a ZX12 ...has a pretty good chance of "not" being able to ride it to its potential.
IF you'd like to race my 2002...Id be more than willing...hehe

I have a 2000 and a 2002. I've drag raced both with the same mods, and can say they run the same. When it comes to smooth mapping through the entire range, the 02 is far better. They made a major improvement on the low RPM drivablility. I agree though, it's all about the rider. At the strip or launching from a light, it has always been so.

TB & Swift, so you are saying that anyone that has a 03 ZX12R, that is their first ZX12? So the People that have 02's waited 2 years? D.I.D. had an 00 then an 02 and there are a few that have wrecked their 00 & 01 and now have 03's! A person with an "00" Could be brand new and first time also! So it could be the bike, or even just his bike also!

No, I think GOZR is right.
I heard that Kawasaki built a "one only" Black and Gold 03 ZX12R
It had a hp rating of 98 at the back wheel...........
Good thing it wasn't one of the Cosmic Splender Red Bikes......
It would have sucked the silver paint, right off your bike LOL

YCIS, Under every ZX12 coat of paint, there is a Base coat of Silver! When they got low on money, they skipped 1 Color process and just put clear over the silver Base coat! Did they give the silver owners a Discount for the cheaper paint Job??

I agree that Silver 2000 models are the fastest. Look at mine...it killed the new owner in just under 3 weeks of ownership. Id say thats a damn fast bike!!
Vince...Unless someone just had to have an 03 model..I dont see why anyone would have waited so long to purchase one. And surely they wouldnt have a handle on the proper launching technique...although I could just be grasping at strings here.
2002 models appealed to alot of buyers...myself included. Some folks just love the 2000 models. I dont know what kinda freek would buy a 2001 model though...hehe
Anyway..it was a guess.... I know for a fact GOZR is slow....lol (just kidding GOZR)

Brian, where did it say that this was his first ZX12?? If you totaled your bike, you would find an 02 faster than an 03?? Or you would not buy an 03 because we would think you were getting your first "12"??

Ah Vince...I would say the "likelyhood" of someone meeting someone like that..would be slim...but still possible.
Of course my "new" bike had a pipe, filters, mirrors removed, etc before my first street ride. If I totaled my 2002..then yest Id probably buy a 2003....unless the magazines told me different....hehehe.

GOZR,
Everyone knows that the black and silver ones are faster. He was lulling you into a false sense of security, for next time. Watch out.
But apart from anything else, "Away from the lights" on a roadbike is definately a matter of throttle/clutch control, not outright power. I take it you didn't run a few sticky burnouts before the light changed?
Black and Gold 03 12's are my personal nirvana, cos I've got one, and you've just got an older bike, so no wonder you'd be defensive.
Hehehehe etc.
