03 B2 suspension setup?
I've read the Bike magazine and the Fast Bikes one on ZX12 suspension setup, but they were for the 02. Has the 03 model changed spring/damping rates?
Mine came new with quite a few threads of rear preload, apparently they used to come at minimum preload, which was still too much according to some renowned racers.
Anyone any ideas?
I'm not a racing guru, just like to get a ballpark to start to play around with my bike.
I already upped the preload from 6 to 3 rings showing.

If you weigh over 150lbs...you can crank down all you want on the preload...its still gonna be too soft. At least get some springs (or shim them) in there to start.
Make sure all the grease zirks are throughly lubed. Mine swingarm pivot had corrosion on it and the bike was almost new. (400miles)
Best bet is to find a guy that does motorcross suspension. They will be familiar with the Zx12 forks. (I think CR250s have the same style forks, only longer)

Turbo,
Yep, I'm off to town tomorrow to get some Moly grease (I'm assuming that's what the linkages take). The damn things are bone dry from the factory like you said.
Any idea what size grease nipple connector I need - as I remember the car size ones don't fit properly, or maybe it's a metric/US thing.
Anyone got suggestions for oil weight to slow things down a bit at the front?
BTW, I'm about 220lbs, so do I need a load of rear preload or is there still too much already at minimum?
Thanks for the info!

I guess on the rear you will need someone to help you. YOu can use a yardstick or tape measure. I think the sag should be set at 1".
You can remove one of the zirks to find the proper fit. I just happened to have one in my garage...although there are no markiings on it.
I went with 10w oil up front. Seems to be kinda middle of the road. Some like to use 5w with more spring pressure. Im not a suspension expert...just regurgitating what my local suspension guy told me. He's been working on motorcross suspensions for ~20yrs.

Oh..at some point you may want to remove the swingarm to check the sleeve inside as well. Mine was corroded and pitted slightly. I started with 320 and worked upto 1500 grit paper. Cleaned it up with WD40 and polished it. I also cleaned and relubed the needle bearings.

Turbo,
OK, will do.
What you are calling "zirks" are grease nipples? Maybe it's a UK term, I dunno - but kinda describes it I guess!

Hey Scaredy - can you publish the suspension specs?
Here's what Racetech says for the static sag:
Front: 40mm
Rear: 32 mm
They didn't offer advice on valve settings, most likely because they wish to sell you theirs.
