Aftermarket Cams for the 12? Hi guys.....I was wondering if anyone has yet made cams for the 12?
They just drop in, so it would be an interesting and rather simple mod, if they worked that is!
Cheers,
Cliff

cams Cliff, Web has had cams for over a year. The intake had slightly more duration and a little more lift. And the exhaust is quite different.
There is a piston to valve clearance problem with the 12r.
You really need bigger valve reliefs to properly time bigger cams in the 12r.
You having the 1270 pistons may be able to take advantage of bigger cams. I havent checked out the pistons in the 1270 kit to verify larger valve reliefs. But I'd bet they are deeper.

I was at Dynojet while they were testing a bike with the web cams in them. After two days of dyno runs, they were not able to make a single horsepower more over the stock cams when indexed properly.

I believe it Swft.
These cams are as big as kawi dared to put in. The CAT gave us these cams. Without a CAT we would have had to have whimpy cams like the Hya.... nevermind. ____________

12 Cams To date, we have not found any cam grind, and we've tested several, that works better than stock on the 12. You can imagine, we'd love to (we sell them, you know) but nothing tested to date would justify the change or expense. When we finally offer one, it will be worth it.

That cable is for interfaceing between the ECU and a laptop for tuning purposes. We originallly were under the impression that any serial cable would work, but the wiring is proprietary so you'll need that for trackside tuning from a laptop. BTW, the system and ALL features, (two step, shift light, shift interrupt, etc.) is now running on a "street" 12 (actually it's our street turbo test bike). We are still wrestling with one little glitch that the designers say "shouldn't do that" but of course does. As soon we get it sorted we'll have harnesses made to run the ECU an any ZX-12 with full street equipment and instrumentation.

Cams Doug you should call Lee's Performance in Charlotte NC. Lee is installing intake cams on ZX12 1270s and picking up 8rwhp with them.
FYI/FWIW. I'm taking my cylinder head to him next week.
