Hi everyone,
I pick up my first 2003 lime green ZX12R July 3 can't wait
I'm 35 and the last street bike I owned was a 1977 kz1000 bored over to 1175. I have never ridden the new style of bike since that, I am sure I will be in for a surprise the dealer said I could take it for a spin today but I told him I can wait until I sign the papers . I do have a 2002 KX500 which is fun; this will look nice 2 lime green bikes.
Anyhow hi all

Wow, you're gonna shit your pants when you go WFO for the first time!
Have fun and be careful, your new one isn't even in the same ballpark as your last one.

Hi Turbo Blew,
Well when I had the kz I was only 18 and didn't know how to let go of the throttle I Can remember running from the police a few times and traded it in for motocross when I was about 22. I still like to go fast but not stupid fast .
Hi cmy12rgo,
LOL
Thanks guys, trust me I won't go and dump the clutch on the way home from the dealer Plus my wife needs me LOL. I sure it's a fuking rocket ship compared to the old kz. Plus Im starting to get old I need to have a little more fun.

Welcome to the board mark!
I had a guy telling me this weekend about the kawasaki 900 he used to own and how fast it was. I started laughing and told him if you thought that bike was fast comparing it to the zx-12 is like comparing riding a moped to your 900. I like 900's and still own my 1974 I bought new.

My uncle had I think it was a 73 z1 900 and put a turbo kit on it was pretty damn fast at the time, only on the strait away though.
Hi worm~hole,
The kx500 I love it it's got a lot of balls compared to all the 250's I've had. My boss bought 1 and it dumped him on his ass right from the start, he respects it a little now.

naw...I roadraced several KZ650/750's & KZ1000's...
Long as you kept it pinned it was ok, get into a wobble & chop the throttle & they'd spit you right off- aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh...splat!

I had a kettle (Suzuki 750 triple two-stroke), that I bought with 700 miles on the clock after about 20 years. Got it certified Uk MOT roadworthy with new plugs and an oil change.
Stripped it, changed all engine seals, and expected miracles (well, you know what these bar-room stories are like).
Comparing it to my Kwack GPz900r at the time, it was a COMPLETE SACK OF S**T. I got overtaken by a RD350LC rider, easily. Which was a bit embarrasing.
Old bikes are nice, but the new stuff is where it's at.
As for any old two-strokes being "exciting", as swft says, it was the handling that made these things scary, not the power.
I still love old Jap tackle though.
Funny that Kawa now quotes the ZX12 as having "tuned flex", whereas the old ones were just damn flexible!

Mark,
I guess my last reply wasn't much use to you, more a reply to a reply.
Anyway mate, I just got one too. I haven't been away from bikes quite as long, but I think if you follow the running-in guidelines you'll have a fair idea of what's in store once you get 11 grand on the clock.
Be careful for a while.
Then "Give it the berries".
As they say.

Thanks Guy's
I woke up at 4:30 this morning and went for a ride before the rain got here.
I like it, my cousin tell's me I should of got a Suzuki 1300 hayabusa, ((NOT))
I love Kawasaki always have and it matches my green KX 500!
I told him, than go buy one. I looked at the hayabusa and the ZX side by side the ZX is a nicer looking bike especially the lime green sweet!
I think the single headlight on the Suzuki doesn't look right and what's up with that big hump on the back seat Doppler radar?
Don't get me wrong I like Suzuki but not the hayabusa it look's to sexy not like a mean alien. LOL

What Zook?
Yeah, I went through the whole 12vsBusa thang. Bottom line, in performance it's only a small margin. The 12 is more rev happy (which makes me happy) and it handles better, IMHO. Plus the Zook dealer here sucks. The Kawi dealer is tits. I wish Kawi had a better selection of bikes.

Yeah, we'd rather see yer wife's mug than yours!
...and I'm sure I speak for most of the member when we say that if you can't get your wife in G-string we'd still rather not see you in one.
I don't know any woman who isn't expensive - one way or another.
