Steering Damper: Scotts or Muzzy ?
I'm sure there are many opinions and preferences, but I'd appreciate yours How difficult is the Scoots Damper to install. I know drilling is required. How much plastic does one need to remove?

I sure like my Muzzy's; been on couple years now & no problems, & NO drilling!
Could'a hurried & installed it in 10 minutes, but took my sweet time being really slow & careful, & Loctite'ing the bolts, etc. Took about an hour or so...
Made a really stable bike even more stable...smooth as a baby's butt @ speed...

What year? If '02 or later Scott's didn't have one out (maybe they do now) so check with them.

I ride an 2k 12. I don't like the idea of drilling, but the Scott's is smaller, lighter, and less expensive ?

Erm, isn't that what the instructions are supposed to do??? Hmmm?? HMMMM????
Well, you know, by judging from the instructions included in my Muzzy pipe, although *I* found them to be acceptable I could see where an (ahem) average or below average wrench might have some issues.
But, of course, I ONLY read the instructions to confirm what I was already up to.....

Well, you know...I've never put a pipe on before and read the instructions just to make sure I was doing it right. I KNEW what I was doing. I mean, it wasn't that hard to figure out. (*ahem*)

We have to assume a certain level of mechanical aptitude. When writing instructions, I'm faced with the dilemma of where to start......
Caution : Do not try to open box by punching with fist.
Use a sharp object to cut tape
Caution: Sharp objects when mis-used can cut the skin.
Note: We are not responsible for bleeding during unpacking or assembly.
Caution: Do not eat foam packing.
Caution: Stop engine before attempting to install exhaust as hot exhausts can cause burns.............

Now Doug.... you are the same guys that sent out the packing for your exhaust cans in a plastic sack. And actually intended for us to put the plastic bag in our exhaust cans! Yes the idea is cool and apparently works. But what reasonable mechanical kimd of guy would have guessed to put a plastic bag in their exhaust!
And yes when I cut the bag open and dumped it in the can it didn't work very well!

What you didn't like the flames coming out your exhaust? Not only the sound, but he sight of excess power! I'll bet it smelled good too....

...my brain not so big...but I installed the second one in 1/4 the time once I knew which parts were what and how to tell then apart...hell I can even do one in the dark or in my sleep now

Now, Doug. You live, breath, eat, sleep, and (probably - I would if I could) have sex with motorcycles.
However, there are a lot of folks out there that don't. The point here is that some things that are obvious to you may not be obvious to the average rider out there. Especially for pipes since so many folks have them.
Timing advancers, oil filter relocation kits etc. I would think you are safe to assume you are dealing with quite advanced mechanical guys. And maybe that's the consumer you guys cater to more so than other suppliers that cater to a more 'average' crowd.
But just about anyone who has a bike puts a friggin exhaust on there.
And there was a time when you didn't know what the hell you were doing. And there was the FIRST time you put on a full exhaust system.
Hell, I had to post to the board to figure out to put silicone sealant on my muffler and pipe to keep the pinch bolt assembly from leaking. I'll freely admit I was igorant of the need to do that.
Be careful in confusing ignorance with stupidity. Big difference.

Shit, didn't take any time to install my Muzzy Dampner!! It went on so quick that I had a few parts left over...guess I didn't need them?!?
It works great too.....err, I think......Uh, yeah!!
