EBDave, isn't there a load of certification and stuff required to be allowed to own one of those sets?
Just wasted my new bike's rear tyre - 1700km. 8-((

Not anymore; the rules/regulations are being relaxed worldwide. Example: Morse Code is being dropped by everyone worldwide as a requirement. Basically you just need electronics basics, & rules & regs. However it does vary greatly f/country to country. You'd have to check w/your nations communications services; or just contact the local ham radio store- the locals should be friendly & give you all the details you need. Or find the local ham radio club...

Oh you can shag the tires quickly on this bike; I typically get ~1K miles out of a rear or less, & about 1.5K miles out of a front. Course I'm almost exclusively a twisty rider; & at times I ride hard. Hang the rear end out a lot & it will go away quick!

Enjoy the ride!

Dave,
Don't think I've been laying darkies, but I'm not looking back there much when the sphincter's twitching!
Riding two-up a lot though, which makes no difference as I go easier with the woman on the back.
But a few dollars on rubber is nothing when I've got "The Twelve".
I luvvit.
I can't say I hang the rear out - on the couple of times I have (not on the 12), I just about shit my pants - it was always due to sand or oil on the road, not me being a hero.
Morse code phased out - wow, it may become an underground means of communication, like the internet...... hehehe
I almost didn't get a job in the Middle East because I was going to include my long range radio cert in my CV - they don't like people talking you know.....
I've got something else to say but I think I better start a new thread!
Cheers guys!
