Muzzy clutch

I'm about to have the Muzzy clutch kit (not the billet basket) installed on my 00 12. Is there anything I need to be worried about, in terms of reliability or function? I just got tired of the stock clutch's dry chatter, especially when launching from a dead stop. Since it will be installed by the dealer, the extended warranty remains in effect. Any advice appreciated.

(the answer you don't want to hear)...
Ya...you should have had them install a billet basket while your at it...
Billet will NOT break...AND...the bike is -smoother-quicker-faster- with the billet...

(answer you will like)
Installing the Muzzy-kit is the best thing you can do for your bike...
It's VERY simple and straight forward...
You should be happy with the results...

kcadby,

Thanks for the info!

I'll probably just go with just the clutch kit for now, since my dealer keeps telling me that my bike will be 'out of commission' for a while, since the basket core has to be sent to Muzzy. Anyway, that means less time will be spent mucking around inside the bike. I hope this fix will remove the awful clutch chatter. When I was telling my dealer about how the chatter 'breaks' my concentration during a street race (from a standstill), he told me that I shouldn't be accelerating very hard. WTF?! The 12R is supposed to be one of the hardest accelerating bikes in the world, and he's telling me not to run it hard? Geez, I shoulda bought a scooter instead! Anyway, I think he was trying to convince me that the chatter was actually part of the design (since he was thinking I was gonna ask for warranty work). I've lost a few races from the chatter already (to an RC-51, of all things!) and it's pretty embarrassing too!

Just venting a little. I should have it installed next week. I may need some drag racing tips soon...

Billet Clutch Basket

Falicon has one day turnaround on the billet clutch basket.I was going to get the muzzy and actually paid the dealer to order it he messed around for 2 weeks and there was a mix up so I said fuckit I'll send it off myself to falicon. Muzzy has good service and it was nothing to do with them at all.

Get the basket!!! If you race it, it WILL fail on you eventually. Its just cheap insurance compared to a grenaded basket and metal shavings and crap all through your engine.

4Banger...Dont be cheap!!! If you do the basket and hub now, it would be a 1 time trip to the dealer!!! If not than you can count another trip to the dealer if your DragRacing!!! It's your choice!!!

I think I'm reconsidering the billet basket...

Is the Falicon basket compatible with the Muzzy clutch kit? Since their turnaround time is quick, I think I'm gonna go for the Falicon basket. I wanna be sure my clutch won't let me down when I race the next Viper.

Im only speaking from what I saw, but the Falicon looks like its balanced now. (not sure about the Muzzy though)
I believe the Falicon is alittle cheaper, but both are fantastic pieces.

I can only speak about the Muzzy basket. I bought the Muzzy full monte!!! (Basket / springs / plates}. I hate missing shifts

I have been very pleased. I burnt up the stock clutch in about 4 months. Then I replaced it with the Muzzy and its been over a year with No issues!! We pulled the plates out to check and see if I was starting to tear them up (Dragracing). Nope!!! All is good for next season!!

As far as the Muzzy turn aroud. I just ordered the set-up so that I could still ride. Then after installation, I sent the stock basket in for the Core return. Took about 1-2 weeks for Muzzy to re-imburse the Core....Not bad at all.

I have heard good things about the Filicon as well.
