Who can name all of the site advertisers?
If you can, then prove it? Show me where they are all listed?
Of course there is a reason for this. Last night when I was responding to the person asking about the Hindle, I wanted to say check Spencer Cycle. But knowing that it is a No No to state a company that does not advertise here if there is an advertiser supporter that does sell the product and advertise here. I watched those Banners for about 5 minutes and I saw Muzzys and another company and no one else. Then I clicked on the Banner to see if they were all listed and they were not. Then I went to the "Vendors" section and none were listed. So fustrated, I sent a note to Fish when replied click on the Banners! Does anyone understand what I feel is missing or understand the problem I had, or have any of you experienced this for yourself?

okay.... how hard is this to understand Vince? advertisers buy banner ad space. That's all. The ads rotate. It should be pretty easy for you to read the ads... we dont have a "supporter's page" nor do we intend to create one. The sponsors know who they are. The membership also knows who they are as the ads are delivered conituosly and rotate every time the page is refreshed. (Certainly this should be enough... perhaps you would prefer annoying pop-ups instead?)
There are only a few of them (sponsors & ads) and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out who they are.
I have no intention of turning this site into a wal-mart/las vegas strip mall with ads and supporter blah blah everywhere.
what a bizarre complaint.
Want more ads Vince? Try duct taping yer TV to yer left eye and then why not read a Vogue or Elle with yer right eye. Or maybe drive down the highway reading billboards... Or how bout paying $12 fer a movie and watching 15 minutes of ads before it starts.
I am quite proud of the fact that we manage to operate this site on the limited funds we receive from our few sponsors, and I'd like to keep it that way.
BTW the sponsors seem to be happy.

Point missed. Nothing to do with the Format of how the banners are presented. Nor is it the fact that everyone is not present at the same time. It is the fact that advertisers do "Come and GO". I was taught never to "Assume".
There are several ways to know who is on line. There is a way to know who all of the members are. I am asking is there a way to know who the Advertisers are?
Different case! I want to buy something and want to buy it from a Site supporter. Should I not be able to see who they are? Fish, this is not a Bad thing, this is a good thing. Last night was the first time I even realized that it was missing?

OK as long as you understand what I was looking for and could not find and want to keep it that way, Fine with me. Every now and then Humans over look somthing and when pointed out make a change. Sometimes when pointed out do not want to make a change. Are you saying that you would be happier if no one points out something they think would better the site or make something easier to find? Or just not this one! No problem either way. I now know that this is just my problem and can live with it.
Last, I also hate magazines that do not have an advertiser index either and of course I have sent them a note too (Just did not want you to feel left out! and no I do not like the looks of Easy's Site either, the extreme the other direction)

It is? I didn't know that. Maybe because that is not the case?

Hey Fish, I think all Vince was asking for was an 'advertisers index' of sorts on the site. I know SportRider and I think the other US rags have it.
I don't think Vince was compaining about the adverts on the current site.
I also see your point which is: read the ads. That's what they are there for.
You are right: if you did decide to do those @#$@$#% pop up ads I think a lot of folks would flee like Enron executives.
C'mon, kids. Don't make me stop this car - it'll be yer ass!

OH Oh, Hey, I am OK Here!! Really! #1, it was pointed out to me and very fairly, that if someone advertises here (and of course pays for the honor), how fair is it to them for someone else to bring up another company that does not advertise here if it is for the same product they sell. No problem when it is about and for something none of the site supporters sell and this is just plain courtesy also.
Otis, as a matter of fact, it was the fact that I could not give Doug's name last night that got this started. I see his name on another site and I could not remember if he was still here and there is another store that advertises here and just could not make sure. Then when I saw his banner here this morning, yes I was pissed that I could not find it last night, but that is only on me. I do not know how much trouble it would be to do what I asked for and the reasons why it is not being done. When I contribute a huge chunk of money, then I will "Demand" That it be done immediately!!
Jon it is CycleWorld that does not have the Advertiser's Index and I love to read Kevin Cameron's articles and see things I plan to get later and when I not only have to go through 10 copies, but every page to find it, That pisses me off also and I wrote to them about it! Again, they did not change and is there right. I boycotted them for a year and when they would send me mail, I would reply with a copy of my complaint. Now, I get the magazine, but ignore any advertising because I refuse to go through what you must go through to find something.
As I get older, my level of tolorance (Which was not much to begin with) gets smaller. Now it is Plus or minus "ZERO" Are we all OK Now. I apologize to Fish for throwing more junk on his plate! BTW, they are right Fish
