Can you use a switch & relay to cut off the taillight??
First, I would like to state that this discussion is for hypothetical purposes only, since it is certainly illegal.
I have ...a friend... that wants to put a single switch up on a dashboard, and it will then cut off the tail/brake light circuit. The dashboard is a preferable location, rather than reaching around under the tail piece feeling for a rocker switch or something down low and close to the chain/tire , especially if he is running 'at speed' ....
There are two feeds back to the taillight, one for the running light (always on), and one for the brake light.
My friend was thinking that two Bosch (automotive) SPDT relays would be required, each one controlling a taillight power feed... one for running light, one for brake light. Both relays would get their switching power from the one dash switch(relay solenoid consumes about .5 amps each).
Unless there is another kind of relay that will allow two power switches from one triggering current, but I .. er I mean 'he' didn't see anything on the 'net that looked like it would work, so the thinking was to use the two Bosch units.
Well, is this a challenge or a no-brainer for you electronics wizards out there? It's out of my area of expertise. Advice or ideas appreciated.

I'd just tie the grounds all together through a switch. That will take care of all the lights with no need for a relay. Switch is made, lights work normal. Switch is open, no worky.

Just ask my wife what a negative thinker I am. She calls me Eeyore, like that donkey on Winnie the Pooh cartoons. LOL. I guess when life has kicked you in the balls enough...........anyway, glad to have helped.

Just remember if the bike has a PC3 powercommander that runs power from the tail light circuit on a ZX12R, so if you kill the tail light you also kill the bike since the powercommander will not have power.

The powercommander has it's own ground and shouldn't be affected by anything done down stream on the lights.Your friend could hypothetically also connect an old choke cable to the license plate with a hinge should he be concerned about aerodynamics of the plate sticking out in the wind.
