Even if vozizm was the ultimate dickweed customer, that response from mototechnw.com was way out of line.

I hope "Dear Herb's" boss at Mototech Northwest becomes aware of his employee's conduct. If Herb thinks of himself a the "top dog" there, the he just lost over 2000 potential customers.

Way to go, Herb!

Wow, that is complete horseshit!!! That is absolutely not the way to treat customers....no matter how much of a pain in the ass they are. There is absolutely no way I am every going to buy anything there. You get repeat customers with service.

Geez Voz,

Hate to hear that. That's an amazing attitude for any vendor to take.

(and we know how well my attitude is taken at times )

Knowing where not to buy is almost as valuable as where to buy.

I hope it get worked out. Keep pushing it.

Last thing I heard from Voz is he is sending money to buy the Ti Muffler from Street & Competition and the money to Fedex it to him and a mailer to return the aluminum muffler. If he thrown in $50, then I would call it square. Voz have been through HELL o n this one because of a Jerk at a dealer!

EMAIL SENT TO MOTO TECH BY REDELK....

Being both in the manufacturing and the advertising/public relations industries for over a quarter of a century, I can relate the aspects of dealing with an upset and maybe even unreasonable client. I also realize what the ramifications can be if I deal with the misunderstanding in a manner that can be viewed as arrogant, by the non involved casual observer.

It was once said that a satisfied customer will tell three people, but one that is dissatisfied will tell ten. With the advent of the internet, this quaint saying no longer applies. You see, the individual known as "Vozizm" not only made his viewpoints know at www.zx-12r.org (1680 members), he also posted those viewpoints at www.bikeland.org (2434 members) and www.labusas.org (3039 members). Of course, not all 7153 members (counting those who are members of all three sites) are aware of this misunderstanding. On the other hand, the three threads have been viewed over 2000 times. Hardly like "telling 10" as the old saying goes, now is it?

To Vozizm credit, he has posted a link to your replies on the forum thread at www.zx-12r.org on the other two website forums. I can assure you that due to your initial reply to his e-mail, the views of the links to that thread will likely exceed 1500 by itself. It's already over 900 at this point. Naturally, both of us realize that the number of views includes those that have revisited the thread. Still, I'd realistically estimate that the number of individuals who are aware of your e-mailed comments and lack of informing the client of the switching of an ordered product with another... probably is only about 500 to 750 folks.

I can assure you that many of us who have viewed these posts, both by Vozizm and the other members, are aware that there is ALWAYS two sides to every such story. Unfortunately, due to you brief lapse of business common sense, you have successfully destroyed just about any possibility of presenting you side of the story and expect anyone to consider it to be either creditable or sincere. No matter how much it might be in both aspects. If you find this viewpoint irrational, all you would need to do is rear the replies to your posts.

I have no recommendations for you on how to best resolve this issue. Human nature makes for a fickle potential client or customer. I'm afraid that the most sincerest of apologies and promises, though appreciated and at least partially respected, will be meaningless until this matter is concluded. In the eyes of many, I doubt if there is much you can personally do with the exception of trying not to just resolve this issue to his satisfaction, but beyond it.

What makes this so sad is the fact he chose to do business with your company, solely on the recommendation of another forum member. Anyone in advertising would tell you that it doesn't matter how much you spend on catalogs or a website, they can not hold a candle to good ole word of mouth. Though it might be difficult to believe, at least for right now, he is your best mouthpiece to thousands of potential customers. He has already shown his sincerity in wanting to resolve this with you by posting the links of your replies on the other forums.

My personal business experiences have shown me that I will never make everyone of my clients happy or satisfied. These same experiences have also taught me that it is how I handle the situation when they are not satisfied could easily determine my company's continued growth or it's stagnation into the eventual closing of the doors.

I do not personally wish ill towards you personally or towards Mototech NW. Actually, I hope that this matter will be resolved and all will be forgiven for what appears to be a very human mistake. I wish you the best of luck in bringing this to a positive resolution and to your and Mototech's business future.

Thank you Vincent. For both the compliment (I'm too "conservitive" for the UN) and especially for helping vozizm get the canister here wanted.

This is the second e-mail I sent to Vozizm concerning Mr. Varin's reply to the above e-mail.

Vozizm,

I'm sorry to see that he did that he did not take this opportunity to regain credibility as a vendor. Yet, I can also understand his desire to just "bail out" of the whole ordeal by refunding you money. The "pissing on my back and telling me that it is raining" line that someone posted was a classic. Unfortunately, it was also a painfully accurate description of how one would feel after his apologizes.

To further compound my displeasure was that I was lead to believe that the amount sent to him via PayPal was $350. Is this correct? Since he works with PayPal, he should have been aware that they would take a cut of the amount he was refunding you. IMHO, if it was $350 you had sent him, the least he could have done was to insure that the refund he sent you had the additional funds so you would be receiving an equal amount in return. It would be the very least he could have done and a very inexpensive way to save a little more face in our humble community.

Though I always try to see BOTH sides of such situations, I find your viewpoint to be an accurate portrayal of the events that occurred. He offered little, if any rebuttal to the "facts" as you presented them and combined with his original statement, reads volumes on his business ethics.

He was presented with several opportunities and different methods he could have pursued to correct this in a complete and satisfactory manner. Yes, the comments on Dale's forum were intimidating, but those same intimidating posts made it all the more imperative that he go the extra mile in this case. Having two satisfied customers post there experiences with Mototech hardly offers the redemption he was needing to sway back any potential future customers.

Me being one of them.

The motorcycling community is unlike any other buying market. The demographics of what makes up this market might be similar to others (i.e. people who might buy a fully loaded PU or SUV), but when it comes to making purchases for their bikes, it seem that we take a slightly different mind set and are a little more demanding. This might not be a "good thing", but is it something that has been the same for decades. For a vendor, dealer or repair shop owner to think differently is simply foolish. It's a "given" and that's the way it will likely forever be.

So, no matter how "forceful" and "demanding" you might have been perceived to be in his eyes, short of calling his mother or daughter names, NOTHING warranted the tone of his first reply. I am glad that you are able to get what you wanted in the first place. I was even more pleased to see that Vincent was able to help and facilitate in its happening.

I hope you enjoy your new pipe,

Pastor Red Elk
