Air filter of choice???
I know that this is an old question and has been answered many times but.....After 10,000 miles (I did clean it a few times!) I believe that it is time to change the air filter to an after market one. I remember hearing that the K & N is a bad fit and VERY hard to remove from the air box? Is this old info? Did they correct that? Or is there a better filter to buy? and where is the best place to buy it?
Thanks for any advice it is much appreciated!

Filters! Don't be scared! You don't need a filter! I've heard about a BMC "race" filter, no personal experience. K&N did nothing for me, I sold them. I use "modified" stock filters but don't recommend them for serious street use.

K & N is a VERY tight fit, and recently discussed. Go to this thread:

Don't really know if they are an improvement, but I am always willing to try something new. .... but I did not like the tight fit.

I put in a set of BMCs the other day. Nice filter. Either one will work wonders over the stockers. Just make sure you use liberal amounts of grease to lube the sides of the filter track, where it slides into the frame.
Ive seen 3 bikes recently that have been running stock filters and they ALL had lots of sand in the floor of the airbox.

Well Mr. Penis Wrinkle Having lived with the K&N's in the 12 for a couple of years I can say they do work and the removal process is rediculous. Based on what I have heard of the BMC's I would tend to go that way. They seem to fit and can be removed in a reasonable fashion.

K&N's suck the cock (kinda like bart). Get BMC filters they are worth the extra $$.
