ZX12R OVERHEATING
I have a 2000 ZX12R and I am having an overheating issue. At first it was just at stop lights but now it is starting when I am running hard on the road. Once I get down to cruising speed, it will run at lower temps. Where do I start?

First check that the fan starts to rotate when heat is at about 60-70%. Also check that the radiator isin't plugged. And of course change coolant check thermostat. Those two firsts are easy ones. Also check from the radiator that there is enough coolant. Also leaking radiator gap could cause problems. And if doing some work I'd change the gap anyway as the bike is allready 13 years old.

I'd check this first. My rad seems to loose coolant fairly quickly, keep having to top off. Air bubble is a related issue.

Thanks... Put the fan on a manual switch, changed the coolant and replaced the thermostat. Took the bike out and it ran a little cooler, I took it up to 180 and it stayed cool. I hope this works.
