Dial Indicator set up for cam degreeing
Anyone degreed cams lately? Never did a 12 myself but it looks like setting up the dial indicator is gonna be about impossible. anyone ever drill an access hole thru the cover? use an offset dial rod? Hate to quit now the the beast tore all to hell. What works??

I just welded a fancy little angled piece on the dial indicator plunger end. kind of a little prong about an inch long and I can bend it to insure angle is correct with valve angle. kinda makes a 10 minute job a half day affair

Cams were 107 and 95. Are 106 and 105 now. Will add pics tonite

This is what I did, need to check your work numerous times. make a positive stop and have a degree wheel

that arm is stainless steel and very stiff, don't want much flexing there...like none

all you have to do is take the cam cover/locator plate out, cut the awning off that sits over #1a, (intake and exhaust), then get an extended dial indicator arm and it will sit straight down there on top off the bucket,,,

An "L" shaped tip works fine. Remember you only need to record the first and last .050" or 1mm of travel to figure the CL.
