It is a Z06, and if it were white (which the first Corvette was) or red it probably would have made at least 20 more RWHP. But silver?? Me thinks not.

GREAT ONE ZHO! My first clue, was that there was no "Dip" that every ZX12 has between 5 and 7,000 rpms. Second, Only "Cars" Have as much or more Torque as HP Like Zho said, If it had been Green, I might have overlooked those 2 things and said, Turbo with NOS, just Stroked ____________

*laughs* Just as long as everyone understands it's all in good fun! And on the motorcycle front, I talked with Doug today, and my bike should be ready soon. If we are all very very good, Doug might have something special to share with all of us in the near future. *hopehope*

You know whats funny Ted, is there are guys still living in the 60's that think their 327 hypo or 427 big block had more real horsepower and torque that the pathetic little old push rod motors in the new Z06! What the cars in the 60's and 70's had were happy speedos!

And non SAE ratings. Also what they don't realize is not only will the Vette hand them their hat in the 1/4 but the thing tops out at 172. Here is the good part, the new C6 (next generation) is supposed to have 500hp, and made to do in a Viper. That would be something.

My 2 cents.
Before you praise the Z06 we all know it's all hp to weight ratio.
Comparing classic iron to a Z06 in a 1/4 is like Z06 vs Zx12.
The vette is waiting for 500 hp my 68 chevelle convert has over 500 rwhp and will do a true 160++ with the top down.
I do run hi-way gears but also have the aerodynamics of a cardboard box. The Z06 very slick but if I park next to one
nobody seems to see it.

Sounds like a pretty potent chevelle. And of course it is pure stock! As for it doing an honest 160 I would like to see that. I would suspect if it actually does a 160, it's aerodynamics at that speed is a near death experience!
For the record my 65 Mustang Convertible with a fully built and blown 427 out of a AC Cobra with more then 800 horsepower at the rear wheels wouldn't go 160 mph. But it did consistantly beat pretty much everything on the road up to it's terminal velocity of just under 150 mph.

man I'm jellous of you guys. All I have are a Ford Explorer and a Ford Expedition. My terminal velocity is about 100 MPH (wind at back and downhill) and my 1/4 mile time... well, its about as good as an ice cream truck - I think maybe I can make it into the 20 second club .

I wouldn't have bought the car if I wanted to go drag racing. The first place my Z06 saw (after break-in) was the local autocross course.

Yeah, the combination of power and handling make the Vette very potent on the track. It also has an active handling system second to none.

Was fun doing the course while it was raining/hailing. You could feel AH brake each individual wheel to get the car to turn. Very sophisticated system.
