ZX 12 - 2004 - lower fairing heat problem
Hi. I Just bought a ZX 12, and the lower fairings are damaged by the exhaust heat. They are el cheapo Chinese fairings. Engine is pretty much stock, and has a PC III and a Boz Bro slip on, with OEM headers and mid pipe. The bike is in excellent shape overall, except for thelower fairings - and I got it for a song because of the fairings.
1) Do you think this is just a Chinese fairing problem?
2) Would firbreglass reinforced with CF fairing handle the heat better?
3) Has anybody ceramic coated their midpipe to reduce heat dissipation?
4) Does anybody have any comments or ideas for me?
Thanks

I've found that not all the china fairings are of poor quality, i have bought a pvc or some stuff that was cheap, I've sinced only buy injection molded kits from china, they are very close and durable to oem fairings, The heat from exhaust shouldnt melt fairings unless it actually touches the fairing, but i still put the heat shield wrap in the exhaust locations, the china fairings i've been getting lately actually comes with heat shielding along with tank protector and windscreen, you could also wrap your pipe with exhaust wrap as well
