Undertail protection

Just received my Dussault undertail and it does look good. I'd like to keep it that way and was wondering if anyone has tried using the clear protective film to help out with rock chips?
I'm trying to stay away from a hugger and was looking for any ideas.
Thanks,
Dan

You could try some clear vinyl. It's comformable and is about 6 mil thick.

I have some in both removable and perm. adhesives. E-mail me what size you looking for and I'll UPS some down to you to play with to see if it will work for ya.

Elk... Where do you get the removable stuff from? I have never found a source for it. I could use the stuff on my race bikes in a number of applications.

Uhhhh... our pressure sensitive material supplier, Flexcon. Last time I checked, we manufacture decals here, but I'm not sure. I spend all my time on this forum.

We only have the 6 mil in clear. We get it in 125 and 250 sheet cartons of 20"x27". We use it for things like football helmet decals. In some cases, after we print it, we laminate it with the same material to keep the imprint from getting scratched off from impacts (a common occurance with football helmets).

The only other removable vinyl we have besides the clear is white, but it is 3.4 mil thick.

Think tankslapper. The guy sales the material that he make the tankslapper out of.

You could probably get 3M film directly, or from a hardware store...

I've talked to the guy at tankslapper and he said he's made a setup for some guys undertail as a favor... He said that it work good.

Dan, the 3M material would be better suited for what your looking for. I seen where they have made bug deflectors for cars and trucks out of the 3M clear vinyl material. It's called 3M Paint Protection Film.

The only distributors (3M "authorized") I could find near you are these:

Prime Time Designs (Applicator, Bulk Rolls, Pre-Cut Kits)
Asheville, NC
828-665-8800

Austin & Associates (Bulk Rolls, Pre-Cut Kits)
Memphis, TN
901-382-7670

Invinca-Shield (Applicator, Bulk Rolls, Pre-Cut Kits)
Wilkesboro, NC
888-339-1385

Thanks guys for the info.
Sherman,
I appreciate your offer and may take you up on it if I can't find anything local.
I may call the phone numbers you provided and find if anyone here can sell me some. The 3M seems the way to go.
I'll keep ya posted.
Thanks again,
Dan

The 3M product works great.Cut to the shape you want, and to apply spray a solution of water 85% with a A 15% solution of alcohol on the undertail. This allows you to move it around.Force the bubbles out and your good to go.Don't be to concerned about the bubbles you can't get out, just poke them with a needle and force the air/fluid out the hole.Go with the thinnest 3m material you can find. Hope this helps.
