Timing Advance

Just wondering how much timing advance ZX12's like and how much would be to much? I primarily use my bike for drag racing and use a good high octane race fuel. I have been running at 4 degrees advanced. I am curious if it would benefit advancing the timing more.

Well, if you primarily use it for drag racing, do some trial and error. Run the bike a few times, get a base line, then start bumping timing and see how it effects ET and MPH. If you start pinging or the bike slows down, back it off. That's going to be your absolute best bet.

Thanks for the advice Hibs, I was thinking the same thing. I know it will be different for each setup and I know you can run more timing with some of the better race fuels. I am still curious to see what the most timing advance people have run on there 12s.

I am interested in looking at the timing curve for a 1427, I am using a zx12r based engine in my jetski with a stock zx12r timing map but I am using a 69.2 mm stroke and would like a place to start before I just start tossing more in.
