Shop at Sears and support our military
It is all about how you treat the Protectors of our land.
I was just e-mailed this from a business associate. He is not in the habit of sending or even worse, resending other folk's e-mails, unless he has checked it out himself. In other words, I believe all the he sends me on such matters to be truthful.
I assume you have seen the report about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up...
Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.
I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it so well deserves.
On a personal note, just don't charge it on a Sears credit card... their interest rate is a killer!

Wow. I'm impressed. I'm generally not in the habit of just buying the cheapest I can - I believe you get what you pay for.
Now, given this example, why would I buy something at Wal-Mart (who are notorious for abusing employees as well as vendors) vs. buying from a good company like Sears?
Maybe I am a Communist, but it would appear in this situation that for the greater good I'll buy Sears...again!
So, maybe you can save a buck or two by shopping at Wal-Mart. But, you'd be reinforcing bad behavior and punishing the good.
Yep. Sears it is.

Don't jump on Walmart too hard. They have teamed with AT&T to send a gazillion phone cards to the service members in Kuwait so they can call home. It's not doing alot of good in Iraq, but before the festivities started my son called home free from Kuwait all the time thanks to Wally World/AT&T.

I wonder how many other big companys have a "Sears" type of patriotic attitude? I know that I work for one of the "Big Four" accounting/finance firms, and all reservists who were called to duty got a nice big firmwide e-mail wishing them good luck and a safe/speedy return. I'm not sure of the actual financial impact, but I bet a lot of companys support their employees during a time of military need (maybe I"m just being naive?)

I checked at work last night. Goodyear covers the difference for 180 days only. An employee would have to hope for a quick war.
