Why do so many ZX-12R riders wear glasses?

The gun debate was always gonna stir the shit a bit. It only gets dangerous when you bring guns into a debate, if you know what I mean. People in this country have been shooting eachother and blowing eachother up for years, before that they were using pointed sticks and rocks. If I was livin' in America, I'd own just as many guns as 12R Pilot, but like everybody has said, just because you can. There are always gonna be psychoes and thieves, there's no harm in evening up the odds alittle bit.

Cause

We're blind out of one eye and can't see too good out of the other!

Blind as a bat

Even with glasses, I'm still blind! At least it looks that way when I ride!

I use to...Until I had Radial Keratadomy corrective surgery...It has now been replaced by laser and lasics surgeries...

I had RK done in 1990 and still have 20-40 vision, as compared to 20-300 before the procedure...

That was the best 2,500.00 I ever spent...WELL WORTH IT!!!

Rick,
I was gonna get lasik done last year but my cornea's were too thin to correct a -9. Contacts are like puttin' your socks on in the morning, I don't even think about it anymore.

Hi guys......I was thinking of having it done as well, is it any good?
Unfortunately I need reading glasses as well, so effectivley I'd be wearing or carringly glasses most of the time anyway, wouldn't I?
Cheers,
Cliff

The bad part was using up $4500 of "use it or lose it" tax exempt health care account money. Barely made it, good thing the kids braces weren't paid off yet, whew!

I've been thinking of getting eye surgery

But the damn health insurance folks won't cover it. Is lasics the way to go? I think they charge around $2K for it, but no one is really advertising any kind of "payment options". Surely they don't expect us to just walk in with a wad of crack money, do they? Has anyone had this done and are making payments on it?

Hey Red, Dad went and had it done this summer. Worked great for him. Lost his up close vision so he needs reading glasses now, but hey, he's 60 yrs old and still rides a 12R,...so what if he can't read the speedo? Same thing as bifocals at his age,you can correct for near or far and youll need glasses for the other. The other option is "mono-vision" , correcting one eye for near, the other for far. But you shouldn't need that until your at the age you'd need bifocals anyway. Going rate is $1500-2000 per eye, that's why I had $4500 in the account(pre-tax payroll deduction). Most ins. co.'s consider it cosmetic surgery and wont cover it. Lasik involves making a flap on the cornea, reshaping underneath, and putting the flap back down. In and out in under an hour, no discomfort. Search "Lasik" on the net or try Toronto Laser Center(TLC). They've been at it the longest. My suggestion is if you do it, do one eye at a time, for obvious reasons.
